I have worked 52 hour weeks at my job--not counting house work on 17 hours of sleep for the week including my night off. The best way to stay awake is eat only small amounts of food at a time and load up on caffeine.

Keep them busy and just say its okay, but if he falls asleep, thats okay too. It's not good to force children to stay awake, especially with drugs or even alot of caffine. He'll probally stay awake as long as he wants to on sheer excitement anyway. Girls always do.

walk around a little bit and get your blood flowing. a little caffeine never hurt anyone and make sure they're doing a very quiet activity. (i.e. movie, book, etc.) eventually, they'll get tired and go nightie night.
