I bought a brand new 2006 escape a few days ago. A few days later I found out that my full time job was going part time in november. I contacted the dealship to ask if I could return the vehicle and he said *no* it has already been processed BUT how can it be processed if I still have the signed paperwork? The signed paperwork was never turned into the dealership. Legally, can I return the vehicle seeing they do not have any of the signed paperwork for the vehicle?

I signed the papers at the dealership and took the papers with me and I still have them in my hands....The dealership does not have the papers that I had to sign - I have them.

Tried to reply to your email but your email hasn't been confirmed so it says it didn't go through...So heres what to do, and I shouldn't tell you this either...but without a cashable contract they have no deal if in fact you have all the paperwork...normally situation is you signed and took delivery you are an owner...but since they let you leave with the paperwork the table is tipped in your favor...just tell them your co-x backed out and won't sign you have been trying to get someone else to sign with you to no luck...so the situation is you have to bring it back and apologize especially to your salesman as he is loosing money for it too...unless he was an *** which most are but these days thats just not how to get it down anymore...if they ask you bring the paperwork back when you bring the car just tell them you forgot it or misplaced it or shredded it after being unable to find another co signer...just know you are very fortunate to have the paperwork...and if they ask or start pressing the issue, just let them know what happened at the job and thats why they won't sign, and if they try to force you into something tell them you will just call the bank and tell them you can't pay for it and won't make the payments or do a first payment default at which point the bank will take the money back from the dealership, and you will have to return it anyway...so best bet take someone with you when you go also(and make sure they stick to their guns and aren't easily swayed as they will try to get them to sign with you)...but normally you would be an owner...then when you say you have to tell them you have a chicken in the oven! haha just more sales talk sorry...

if you sat down with the financial advisor at ford and signed things and he got copies, then those were saying your buying it and under contract to buy it, the paperowrk you have is for getting a title and getting it registered for license plates.. I am sorry, but it is yours now... I would list it on autotrader.com and craigslist.com and some other places like that and for the price just tell them how much you owe and that they will take over payments... lots of people look for that so they dont have to pay a downpayment or cuz they can afford something new but dont have good credit... good luck, so sorry to hear about your job and I hope you find a buyer

You could also try this: it's law that items over a certain price have a 30 day return option.

The best way to get your way is to go down there, preverably not alone because they'll try to intimidate you (sadly). Phone calls are almost useless after you have started the process.

Did you go into the dealership
sign finance papers
sign motor vehicle paperwork
take delivery of the car???

then the car is yours and I am sorry to say can't be returned
because your financial situation will be changing

The key word here is you "bought " it. You can't return a car just because your job changed. It's not like Wal-mart. If they did take it back,it would be considered a used car,and they couldn't sell it as a new car.

I think it depends on how long it has been and how many miles have been put on the car. Call the local chamber of commerce to find out the specifics.
