Right now I am about 155 and 5'7 and I want to get down to 140 -135. How long will it take me to do this? I want to be down before 2007.

Some people want to know how much weight per week is safe to lose. Others want to know how much weight they will lose sticking to a certain program. There are lots of people who repeat what they have heard but no reliable sources say that only a certain amount is safe to lose. You can drink too much water, eat too much, exercise too much and fast too long (an MD fasted a fat guy for 8 months and he died). But you can not sleep too much! Why? Because you do not control how much you get only how little you get. You cannot force yourself to sleep if you do not need it.

So you do not choose how quickly you lose weight. Your body decides that. So only your body knows how much you lose. It will only allow you to lose what is safe. One guy under an MD's care lost 180 pounds in a year fasting on weekends. So some lose quickly on a bad weight loss plan and others lose slowly on a great weight loss plan. Make sure to eat foods with nutrients for skin, like omega-3 fatty acids, to avoid loose skin, when you lose weight.

Good carbs like celery and carrots will never make you fat. Bad carbs like cake will, but you don't need to know the whole science of glycemic index and load. It is mostly NOT your fault, if you need to lose weight. The way we have been taught to eat is responsible for making obesity the number one health problem in the world (according to Atlantic Monthly magazine) replacing hunger and infectious disease. You need to re-learn how to eat so you can become thin. Not a diet, but diet lifestyle.

Find out about fastest way to lose weight, gradual ways to lose weight, most effective exercise, good and bad carbs and anti-water. Lose bodyfat and retained water which also makes you a lot fatter (bloated). Links page has gov. BMI calculater to find out just how much overweight you are (teens plug in your age to compare to others your age). Get latest info like American Heart Association does not want you to eat more than 6 ounces daily of meat, fish or poultry. Most important-- make sure to read the last "fat loss tip", first before anything else, to see the number one food that causes Americans to be fat.

I changed one of my meds and I was down that much in a little over a month without trying. Otherwise I would say that cutting calories, and increasing water and fruit/veggie consumption will help you loose weight fairly quickly. Exercise can be as simple as cleaning the house, or carrying in the groceries. Dancing with the kids is a great aerobic exercise, and then lifting them is an incredible weight training. I HATE exercise, but doing extra stuff around the house really makes it easy, and you feel better becasue the house looks better.

2 pounds a week is healthy. since you can't run try to walk for 30 minutes a day or so. any kind of cardio is going to be very helpful. also be sure to watch your calorie intake.

then you have plenty of time....if you start now. lots of fruits and veggies...water of course. those sugar-free mixes count as water consumption as well. walking is the best exercise and you can do that inside your home....a few steps forward, a few steps back, diagonal. thirty minutes a day makes a big difference.

Healthy weight loss is no more than 2 lbs a week. Water, water, and more water is the key.
