Cutting or self injury is a fairly common psychological disorder among your people especially but occurring in all ages to some extent. One explanation is that the person is stressed and feels out of control, but can control the cutting and this calms them temporarily.
The problem is that this is dangerous and that it may require more and more drastic and/or frequent episodes as time goes on. And it really doesn't fix whatever stress caused the cutting in the first place.
It is rare that someone seeks help or recognizes the seriousness of the problem at the first sign of this condition. Getting help now may sound scary but not getting the help should scare you far more. If possible, tell your parents or other family who can support you through treatment and recovery.
You are far from alone. There are some excellent online support sources to get you started and answer your questions about this problem. Be aware that just as there are sites that praise anorexia and consider it a lifestyle choice, there are pro-cutting sites that may even trigger the behavior. The ones I list should be safe and helpful.

I've had problems with self-mutilation. I used to cut myself for different reasons: as punishment, sort of mental justification for imperfection; as a way to distract from emotional pain; to feel more 'clean' (that isn't the best way to describe it, but I can't think or a better word). As a punishment, it made me feel okay for a while, but then I would think more and more imperfections were worthy of punishment and started cutting more and more for that. As for emotional pain, I got to where I couldn't handle everyday simple embarassment, sadness, etc. The distraction from pain led me to not deal with the emotions, making dealing with them seem impossible, thereby creating a perpetual problem. As for the 'clean feeling', I have social phobias, and hated people touching me - it really didn't matter who. So when people touched me, I tried to cut myself until I felt okay with myself - like the pain had somehow 'cleansed' me. Don't cut on yourself: seek help. Talk to someone you trust: your parents if you can, a teacher, a school counsellor, an adult friend. Try not to talk to your peers about it - find an adult. A lot of peers will not understand, and I'm guessing that you are in High School or Junior High. Many kids gossip, and rumors will spread over the school and make you feel awful and will also make you feel more like cutting.
I don't think I can stress this enough: start to get help now. If you start to get help now, it will be a whole lot easier than if you get help later. Cutting is often a self-perpetuating disease. When you cut, the reasons for cutting usually get stronger, your desire to cut gets stronger, or both. This means it is going to be harder and harder to stop the longer you wait.
I know somewhat of what you are going through, and hope you recieve the help you need. May the Lord bless you.

No, I've never purposely injured myself in any way & I don't intend to, either. I often cut myself accidentally at work, so I don't need to take up this habit.
But seriously, "cutting" is not normal. I'm not a psychologist, so I really can't analyze it in depth. I think the psychology behind it is similar to what's behind eating disorders.
Like eating disorders, this behavior is self-detructive & nothing good can come from it. It sounds like maybe you realize this.
I strongly advise you to seek professional help so you can put a stop to it before you're permanently disfigured or worse.
Good luck!

No, I have never but I know people who have/do, and it is not something you want to start doing. It may have made you feel better at the time, but it is a TERRIBLE coping mechanism that will put you into a downward spiral...you will not be able to quit, and it could lead to other problems. Doing it once doesn't mean you need to do it again, please don't! There are other ways to deal with the stresses in your life, and if you aren't sure how to do that ask for help. There are SO many people that will help you, just reach out.

I have never done this but i know people who did. Is there something bothering you in your life? are you under a lot of stress? If you are that might be the reason why. A lot of people look at cutting themselves as a way to relieve stress. You need more positive ways of delaing with stress. If you want some positive ways to deal with stress go to http://www.nmha.org/infoctr/factsheets/41.cfm

I used to cut and burn myself. I did it because, when I pushed the physical pain away, the emotional pain went with it. I've also done it as a suicide prevention measure - I would do something little to take the edge off how much I wanted to harm myself. You're not crazy, you're just in pain. There are places you can call anonymously to get started talking to someone, such as the Samaritans.

Its your life and you only have one. Never would do that myself but lots of folks do. You really need to get some help. Ask your Dr. or Pastor where you can get help. It will be of little cost and probably be a chemical imbalance or something that can be fixed.

No I have never done it before. I think that one of the reasons why people do anything like that is because they feel powerful and in control of their bodies. There are more productive ways to feel this way like working out or writing-- all you need to do is put your mind to it! Good luck.

I had a piece of broken glass on my feet, and used a knife to take it out cuz it was really in there, weird thing is I was bleeding alot and it didnt hurt alot, maybe because I was too concentrated on getting the glass out of me...............
maybe wen u were cutting urself u were thinking of sumthing at the same time and cutting urself was easy enough to do, easy enough not to think why u did it.
