Sweet wines to try: Quady Essensia (Orange Muscat) or Elysium (Red Muscat), Sutter Home Moscato, Fetzer Riesling or Gewurztraminer, Late Harvest designated wines from numerous producers, German white wines labeled Spatlese, Auslese, Beerenauslese, or Trockenbeerenauslese (you may need a bank loan for some of these), French wines like Vouvray (made from Chenin Blanc), Muscat Beaumes de Venise (has some brandy added to fortify), Sauternes or Barsacs, or Hugarian Tokay Aszu, Ports and Sherries. All of these offer you a wide range of tasting experiences. Your best bet is to consult someone in a local wine shop that can give you the personal touch and guidance in finding what you like and don't like. If you need more help: cullen2@verizon.net

Try a port or a late harvest wine. Maybe even an icewine if you want really sweet. As for the Rieslings you have tried, they're not all made in a sweet style so maybe the next time you're in a wine shop, ask the person working there for a sweeter Riesling instead of a Dry Riesling.

If you can get your hands on Canadian wines, try the Late Harvest wines or the Icewines from Ontario. There are two wineries there that specialize in sweeter wines: Pillitteri Estates Winery and Royal DeMaria Wines. Their websites are:

Ok, it sounds like you want to drink real wine (not coolers or mixers) but still want it to taste good.

OK, any blush (or rose) wine will fit the bill. Look for them, but the most popular is certainly White Zinfandel which is both sweet and easy to drink, although wine enthusiasts thumb their noses up at the "accessible" wine.

German wines are sweet, such as Reisling, but an even sweeter variety is Liebfraumilch. Try it out!

I have discovered a little trick . If the wine is too heavy or sweet mix it with soda. We did that in Thailand. We bought a Thai wine and it was almost a dessert wine so a friend suggested mixing it with soda. It made it a great drink for a hot Thai night. I also found a great way to discover which wines you like is to go on a winery trail. Find one in your local area get inthe car a try as may as you can to discover which flavours you like . Then you know what to ask for in the bottle shop

Port can be delicious if you choose the right one. Tawny port is tasty. White port is "lighter."

Ice wine is delicious but expensive. I've heard that the best ice wine is German.

My very favorite sweet wine is Jackson Triggs Proprietor's Reserve 2004 Vidal Tee wine. Absolutely delicious, sweet and goes down easy. The bottle is tiny and it costs around 20 bucks but it is truly an experience worth having.

As with anything, you have to research before you buy. One of my favorite sites for wine is here.

Just peruse the dessert wine section of your local spirit retailer. Take your time and read the bottles, if there are any ratings tags, take those into consideration. I find that wine buying and tasting is an adventure. Narrow down what it is you like and start there. Pick a bottle and try it.

I think you would enjoy other Muscat wines since you like the Mondavi one. There are a lot of Muscats out there.

I would also recommend that you try the dessert wines by Bonny Doon. They have a Muscat and a really interesting wine you might like:

Bonny Doon NV Framboise Infusion of Raspberries (half-bottle) This is a delightful sweet wine in a half-size bottle. It’s been awarded 90 points from Wine Spectator and 92 from Wine Enthusiast. Enjoy the captivating raspberry aroma and flavor…this wine is a dessert by itself! ($12.99)

Ok, I have the perfect wine for you...

The brand of wine is Electra
I think it only comes in a white and red and they are both sooo sweet and good, it's almost like drinking a juice. I guarantee you will like it. I am not sure where in your area you can get it but I worked at a Hy-Vee Liquor store in Illinois for years and we carried it there...it always went fast when we got a case in.

Ok, check this out...

Try a Liebfraumilch. Also, the Australian vintner Lillypilly has some sweet wines. And, if you want something really sweet, you might try a Sauternes, or one of the sweeter German wines such as a Trockenbeerenauslese.

I love Oliver's Soft Red wine - or any white zinfandel - I don't like dry tasting wines and these are the best. Oliver's has a website if you can't find it in your local liquor stores - they are an Indiana winery - oliverwinery.com
