I think it totally depends on your lifestyle and what you consider "fun".
A friend of mine had Hermit Crabs that she was simply nuts about.
Another friend of mine has fish including an Angel fish. Just for fun, I decided to try and train the fish. So I chose a behavior I thought would be easy to reinforce: eating from my fingers.
The fish now eats directly from my fingers and will follow my hand for the food.
The next thing I'm going to try and teach her is to swim in a circle before receiving the food.
So you see, you can have fun with just about anything if you find a way to interact with them.
Just be sure to choose a species you are able to take care of properly and that you enjoy spending time with.
And please consider adopting an animal that needs a home.
Also choose something that fits into where you live. If I lived out in the country I would seriously think about adopting a Vietnamese pot-bellied pig. But, as I live in a condominium and within a populated area, ummm, pigs aren't exactly going to be something my neighbors would really appreciate.
So I have birds. I don't have to take them out for walks, and the exercise they get is within my home. It's perfect.

A turtle would be really fun,but a lil' expensive. You'd need to get a 55 gallon tank ranging from $50-$200.You need to get alot of stones for the bottom of the tank which you can get for free from your sidewalk or park, but if you want to get pretty stones buy them. Then after you put the stones in fill it up halfway with water. Then you got to buy one of those special floating rocks from your pet store that costs anywhere from $10-$25.Then to buy the turtle itself which depending on what kind it is the turtles range from $20-$450 depending on the species of turtle. Then you have to buy them food. They eat greens like green beans lettuce and carrots, squid depending on the species. So turtles are really high maintenance but fun because it's fun to watch them swim around and you can let them explore your room, just make sure you don't lose the turtle. You can also take the turtle outside in your front yard to explore. It doesn't sound fun but it is,trust me i've owned on before!

I even have 2 African Dwarf Frogs. they are thoroughly aquatic, so which you maintain them such as you are able to a fish. you are able to shop them with some fish, yet agression and feeding could be an argument. they are tiny, purely a million.5 inches or so. Mine are very lively, i will look interior the tank and have something to observe (no longer purely them hiding or sitting for hours).I even have mine in a 2.5 gallon, yet they are meant to be in something better (5 gallon, some even say 10) with a heater and clear out. They should not be stored in something too small inspite of the incontrovertible fact that, and in the journey that your room gets chilly you will prefer a heater. they only fee some funds each and every, no longer costly in any respect. The tank can get somewhat costly, yet something can. i think of they are sort of unique, I had in no way heard of them and despite in the event that they are uncomplicated they provide the impact of being notably cool. they are notably hardy, and don't require a selection of of specific care. purely look at cycling the tank first, and the thank you to scrub it and how lots ater to interchange each and every week. you additionally can get African Clawed Frogs, yet those get lots better and are extra agressive in direction of different fish. do somewhat analyze on them and on the thank you to maintain a fish tank. you are able to ask for help with them interior the fish section. they're going to in all probability be waiting to help with the tank better than reptiles, inspite of the incontrovertible fact that they could desire to nevertheless be efficient. sturdy success with despite you come back to a determination.

A Rat...there's nothing better. Extremely tame, intelligent & keep you laughing constantly. They act like crazy little loyal dogs. They come when they are called, live for your company, and will do just about any thing for treats. They live about 2-3 years if you take excellent care of them. Rats are awesome.
P.S. Chicken Midget & S.S. Shrimpboat agree..."We rule!"

Chinchillas, they provide plenty of entertainment and are so soft. They can be trained some tricks, and are just so cute to look at. However they do require a bit up up keep. They are a bit High Manintence, but such a joy.

I think that hamsters and gerbils are great pets, but you need to make sure and keep up on keeping the cage clean. You can set up mazes for them, or obstacle courses. They're relatively inexpensive too.

A yorkshire terrier. It's a dog that's full of surprises. They are very expensive though. If you ever get one, do research on it first and pay special attention to it when it comes home! :)

My personal favorite is a giant African milipede. They are unique, they are fun to hold, and they practically take care of themselves. There is no exspensive food to buy, no vet bills, and best of all, you don't have to clean out their cage! You can play with them if you want or never pick them up at all and they don't care either way. They are the ultimate low maintenance but totally unique pet.
