If you're asking about each human, each human has 1 pair of tonsils.
But to literally answer your question, humans have about 6 billion pairs of tonsils. Minus the people who had theirs yanked out.

Of course you can live without your tonsils. I had mine out when I was four years old and I'm still kicking. LOL. It used to be common practice to have them removed with repeated tonsillitis attacks, but they've since discovered that they actually have a purpose. (I think they filter germs or something, I can't remember) So, nowadays it's not done so much anymore. Be warned though, my ex-husband had his removed and he was in agony for quite a few days. It's not walk in the park. Maybe you should see a doctor for some anti-biotics first, before making the drastic choice of an operation.

I personally have 73 tonsils. I'm pretty sure I'm a human even though my Mom says my father is Luke Skywalker. But, you know we all have our favorites right.

U have one tonsils ...tonsils are your immune system and is vital.
Tonsils collect bacterial, allergens, before they go down your system. Tonsil is your first immune besides Skin.
Tonsils connect....u have one set of tonsils. Its best not to remove them. It lowers the immune system to have them removed. They are beneficiary to your health.
