Well, not only are there verses where Jesus makes the claim to be God, but He also does things that only God can do. Like forgive sins (Matthew 9:2, Mark 2:1-12, Acts 26:18, Colossians 2:13 &3:13). And just like God He also recieved worship (Matthew 2:8,11, 14:33, 28:9; John 9:38; Philippians 2:10,11; Hebrews 1:6). those are just a couple of ways that God and Jesus are the same. There are a whole lot more than that.
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word WAS God...And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us.." John 1:1,14

It does not break the first commandment if Jesus is God in the flesh. Jesus was worshipped by the apostles. He was worshipped by those he healed. The author of Hebrews shared God's command for the angels to worship Christ.
The big one that nails it is the fact that Jesus NEVER refused the worship.

Your obsevations eh?
God is a trinity.Father Son and Holy Spirit.1x1x1=1 God as opossed to 1+1+1=3 gods.
In the beginning God....The word is a plural singular(believe it or not)Hebrew is El for God and Eloheim for the plural.
In the beginning Eloheim created......Let US make man in OUR image(that wasn't the royal "US" it was the trinity)
John I..In the beginning was the Word(Jesus) and the Word(Jesus) was with God and the Word(Jesus) was God.....See Amigo?
Collosians I says even more and then read Phillipians ...He thought it not robbery to be equal with God etc.
OK study the Bible your "obsevations "might change.

the bible plainly says that Jesus was the first of god's creations.
Col 1:15 Acts 7:55 where Stephen saw the heavens opened up and there was Jesus standing at the right hand of God. So even back in heaven Jesus is still the son of God.
Yes, Jesus is the mediator between us and God but he is not the Almighty.

Christ is not "considered God in some sects of Christianity", but rather the great majority of churches in Christian orthodoxy believe Christ is God - hence the name "Christianity". We do not break the first commandment because He said He is one with the Father. It would be different if He was separate from the Father. God Bless you.

Jesus is God, they are one and the same. Jesus was before he came to earth as a human. God the Father, Jesus and The Holy Spirit. Like water can be steam, liquid, ice. One does not exist with out the others

Good question, but this is answered by the concept and teaching of the Trinity (Tri-union---three in one) of the Father Son and Holy Spirit (sometimes referred to as the Holy Ghost).
There are several verses that support the idea of the Trinity. You should make that a personal study and pray before you embark that God would show you this that He calls a "Great Mystery."

Wow, great question! You should get some angel points for delving into some good spiritual meaty questions! I think it's sort of paradox... but religious truth seems to often come down to paradox. Jesus is God and Man at once... that's the point, huh? We get in touch with our own divinity by recognizing the Christ within, as Jesus first identified when he realized his Oneness with God and taught us with his own life. By looking deeply into our hearts to seek God (i.e. "the Kingdom is within") we have a communion with God that supercedes the distance between the creature and the creator. I think that Jesus teaches us that the way to love and serve God is through getting in touch with the divine presence within our own selves. (Fundamentalists are uncomfortable with this kind of thinking because they aren't ready for it -- they're not that far on their spiritual paths yet. But it's not their fault - be patient but firm with them, just as Jesus did with the Pharisees.) I agree that Jesus wouldn't want to be praised and worshiped... I think he would throw up from all the praise. He would much prefer that his followers actually followed in his footsteps. On the other hand, devotion is a universal aspect of religious experience. You can't be a spiritual person without sometimes just wanting to express your love and and worship your "savior." I was surprised to learn that even in Buddhism, where there is a pointed de-emphasis on external divinity, the collective consciousness bubbles up and people just have to bow and pay homage to Buddha as their "lord." (Strict Buddhists hate this, just like fundamentalist Christians hate anything non-slavelike.) I think Jesus is like the single "sperm cell" that impregnated the "egg" of human spiritual potentiality. He brought the plan, and we're all playing it out. We'll never understand it in our mortal lifetime! Hee-haw, praise God!

one should always worship GOD. Jesus and many others have attained oneness with GOD, these great saints exist to show others to the same awareness. GOD DWELLS WITHIN YOU AS YOU. read ephensians. There are many scriptures written on this subject,of which the bible is the most difficult to comprehend. read THREE MAGIC WORDS by U. S. ANDERSEN

JOHN 1
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Now if we accept that Jesus is the "word made flesh, the only begotten of the father" spoken of in verse 14..... then we look back at verse 1..... who did it say was God?? "and the word was God"....
No violation of the 1st commandment there friend sorry....
God bless you will be keeping you in prayer here
