Yes they can. They can deport an illegal alien who was legally married at court or in a church as well.

Well, first of all, the majority of states give no legal status to couples living together, regardless of how long they've been living together.
And, they can deport ANY illegal alien. They are illegal.

I sure hope so.
My dad married mother the day after he got his visa to immigrate, and bought a round-trip ticket in steerage across the North Atlantic. All immigrants needed the round-trip ticket in case they got sent back by authorities for illness (cough, zits) or any other reason thought appropriate at the time by our authorities.
A year later she got here the same way.
