in the old testament god tried to make people follow him but they just wouldn't sorta like today. so tired and frustrated he said he quit trying to force people to come to him so he said hey I quit. I give you free will. You can come to me confess with your mouth and believe in your heart. The thing is you may be a believer and turned your life over to god but that doesn't mean everyone has. So it is not so much god is watching the suffering and doing nothing people have been suffering a lot longer than we will ever know. Because he gave people free will and it is what they choose to do with it. There are so many religions and athiest and not everyone can confess to something that is suppose to be a heavenly master. Free will. Alot people say they are religious and they aren't not really. It just sounds good to say they are. Free Will. Just remember that god gave free will and when you see awful things happen remember the story of cain and able: am I my brothers keeper?

I would seriously think about what exactly your purpose is in your faith, and where exactly you got the impression that you are any different than anyone else.
People create religions to answer questions that they can't answer, or there aren't any answers to, and to explain away their fears. Stop being a victim, get off the computer and help someone who is doing some real suffering.
You woke up breathing, what more do you want?

of course he cares, however people are born with free will and are given choices, GOD loves his people but we are given consequences to sin and other people's sin and generational sin. Sometimes through our sin we hurt others. We are not a bunch of robots that GOD can turn on and off. For GOD so loved the world that he gave he only begotton son. GOD came here to this earth to love us, not to condem us. Don't blame GOD for suffering as he is not here to judge us or blame us for sin. All of us suffer but GOD can take our suffering and make it good in some way. Your first choice is to accept him and know that our GOD is a loving GOD, not one who likes suffering. It all may sound flowery but it is true. Seek him and he will draw to you. My favorite verse in the Bible is "For GOD has given us eternal life he who believes in him will have eternal life." Very simple but true. GOD's kingdom is simple and yes we are only here for a blink of an eye and then those who believe in him will have eternal life.

I ask this too. I think god does care but I don't get it...I don't really get the whole point but I'm not giving up on making my life and the lives of those around me the best it can be.

Have you considered the benefits of life after suffering in general? A man who overcomes enjoys life more than a man who is complacent with his existence.

Reality is that life sucks for everyone. We all have hardships and you have to learn to accept reality and roll with the punches. Life isn't a party. Then you die.

Sure he does, he weeps for us. Suffering hasn't been caused by God. Suffering is the result of mankind using their agency. We need to learn to care about the suffering our choices cause others. And we need to do all we can to help and comfort those who suffer. God has the power, but if he uses it what do we learn? And, what about agency?
