Illegal alien gets 70-month prison sentence
From staff reports
A 41-year-old man was sentenced to almost six years in prison after being convicted of illegally re-entering the country after previously being deported, according to a news release from the office of U.S. Attorney Reginald I Lloyd.

Jose Luis Espinoza-Chavez received a 70-month sentence and will be deported to Mexico again after the prison term.

Prosecutors said Espinoza-Chavez was previously convicted of burglary and deported to Mexico in August 2000. He then illegally re-entered the United States and was arrested this year on burglary charges by the Horry County Sheriff's Department

I wish they could all do their time in the nastiest, most foul prisons we have!! Like some here say, I hate that we still pay for their food and roof while in jail, but I've heard enough about how when we deport them they just turn around and head back and keep doing so until they make it in. If enough of them got nailed with long jail terms, maybe it would be a deterrent. If, as some say, their main reason for coming is because they have families in Mexico that are reliant on their support, well they sure aren't helping their families much while their butts are in jail, are they? Their families would have been much better off had they tried to find a job in Mexico or at least applied through the proper procedures to come legally - not to mention all the money many of them give to the coyotes to get here, as well. I believe this is a step in the right direction and even if we have to pay for their support in jail, if the sentences are long enough and the jail conditions are bad enough, it will so act as a deterrent when word starts getting around to other would-be illegals. Give 'em HARD TIME!! Build that fence FAST! No more stupid talk about "possible amnesty" because all that does is encourage more to try to come! Also, get on with nailing the employers hard, as well!

If he is determined to be here then he will come back..
the prisons here are still better then living in mexico so no sweat off of his back..deportation doesnt stop the illegals they will come back if they want too..we need more striked laws that will stop them from working here and living here..so stop the companys that hire them and punish the landlords that shelter them..they need to make poster for the illegals like they do people who dont pay child support..and hang them up in the welfare office post office and the jails..and when they are in our prisons we are still paying for them...with our tax's...

Sounds like a plan to me,it's unfortunate that we are wasting all the jail space we could be using for jag offs like this on non violent drug offenders but maybe if we free up some of that space we could put it to uses like this, that better serve the society at large. Just a thought, and of course doesn't sound like we are losing any pillar of society when you see the previous burglary conviction, which begs the question, where are all these hard working law abiding illegals I keep hearing rumors about?

By putting them in prison our tax dollars still pay for them.

After their first offense of entering the country illegally they should be shot on site when they try to enter it again. That is my opinion on how they should be dealt with, plus bullets are cheaper than deporting them for the xxx amount of time or putting them in jail.

Heard more to much of this, Illegal criminals should not be deported, I do not mind paying an extra penny to keep them locked up.

Illegal immigrants are like roaches. They come, breed, and infest. Then they eat up your resources. You put out traps and catch a few, but they just keep coming.

Keep building those walls. Run a few hundred thousand volts along them also.

it's illegal to hire the undocumented. lets have C E Os do a perp walk on the 6 o'clock news every night for a few weeks . they deserve it for not hiring Americas at living wages. if illegals don't get hired ,they got no reason to come here.

Well, it's up to a 10 year term, so they didn't throw the book at him or anything.

So what, our laws and court orders are supposed to be optional?

its ridiculous that some people say that illegal immigrants prefer to be in jail than in their country. If they come here is because they need a job they need to provide their family it is a need, if you were in the same situation you would do it too.

sometimes it is the only way..

The downside is we are still going to feed, clothe and shelter him for the next 70 months. He came back once, and will probably go for #3, once he realizes he's better off in an American jail cell.
