WELL, ITS MORE KNOWN ABOUT TODAY AND SOCIETY ID MORE SENSITIVE TO IT. I BET THERE ARE ALSO MORE ALLERGIES BECAUSE OF ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS AND INCREASING POLLUTANTS.

Actually, there is plenty of evidence that the poorer people do get fewer allergies. There is growing evidence that raising children in a super clean environment does cause asthma; allergies; and other ailments.

For example, a doctor a couple years ago noted that Crohn's disease is extremely rare in the Third World. After some study, he concluded that when kids had worms, something that doesn't happen much in the STates today, they don't get Crohn's disease. So, he did a study involving giving people with the C. disease, pork work larva, and there is almost perfect remission of the disease.

Asthma is also believed to be a result of a clean child hood, and this screws up the immune system causing asthma.

I spend most of my time in the Third World, and there are few kids -- um, okay, I know exactly none -- with these sorts of illnesses.

I don't know about the peanut allergy, they don't eat peanut butter in the 3rd world, except when I teach them.

Some of it, in my opinion, is that everyone want to label things and be able to say exactly what is wrong with their child. It used to be lots of people were lactose intolerant or sensitive, but they could still have a limited amount of dairy. Now its like, no dairy at all!!

The peanut thing is crazy, and I also wonder -- why is it that it is the nicer schools in better neighborhoods that are going peanut free while the inner city school still have peanut butter everywhere? Do poor people not get allergies?

well first off, if they were allergic they probably got sick possibly died and never identified the cause or the kid just layed off the peanut butter but they never actually defined it as an allergy. Two thanks to antibiotic pushing, versus more natural methods of healing, coupled with a worse envioronment and less exposure to germs peoples immune systems are more sensitive then they probably were back then. think about it you get tons of immunizations by age 3, your home life is more germ free. your body won't develop all the anti bodies and sensitivities it needs if it is constantly sheltered and never gets sick. so i say let the kids eat dirt! lol but seriously if there is a good scientific answer to this i would love to hear it

Coupla reasons: First, people who were allergic to peanuts DIED because we didn't know why they were choking and dropping dead.
Second, we live in the bottom of an ocean of air and we have been filling it up with all kinds of chemicals that make our immune systems freak out, especially when you look into the lack of vitamins in our food compared to the vitamin levels of the 1930s.
Those vitamins are important to stabilizing our responses to things.

I believe it is because we use antibiotics to freely and because we are more sophisticated as a whole there is more pollution in the air. Also now we have more government controls over what can be wasted and how because it never used to be plays a big factor too.

Just because you never heard about them doesn´t mean they weren´t there. BTW, how do you know there are SO MANY? I´m guessing the labeling on products/TV shows, both of which did not focus on this in the past.....

Because there is so much crap in the environment, that's why. Yet people can't figure this out for themselves and continue to demand more material things, bigger vehicles, larger homes, lavish lifestyles...but in the end, there is a price to be paid for it which is not monetary.

It may have to do with pesticides used to treat the peanuts.

I also think a lot of it has to do with humans becoming more and more immune to antibiotics and other medicines.

It's do to everything being geneticly altered. It's hard to find anything that hasn't been altered in some way.
