I was devasted to find out that my nanny lost her son a month ago. What can I do to express my condolences and my sorrow?

sympathy does not take different forms because the woman is a "Muslim".

Say something along the lines of what you'd say to anyone else who'd lost a son. "My family and I were terribly sorry to hear about your loss." or "Please accept my sympathy for your loss."

Depending upon the circumstances, other more tangible gestures might be appreciated as well - some paid leave, a contribution toward funeral or hospital expenses, a contribution to a memorial fund in the son's name.

Tell her how sorry you are. And let her know you're there is she wants to talk or needs anything. Her religion doesn't enter into it. You could give her some time off work if she wants it.
