I'm always on a diet it seems. I recently had a birthday and my daughter fixed strawberry shortcake with angel food cake, strawberries and cool whip. It was great and has very low calories. I didn't gain any weight the next day either.

You could make him a cream cheese crumble with jello on the bottom, it's absolutely delicious. Has he ever had an ice cream cake? I know you said he doesn't like cake or ice cream, but neither does my brother and he likes the ice cream cakes. Something about them together just makes the magic happen, i guess. :P You could get a wide mouthed bowl and do a 5-scoop in a cup (5 different scoops either piled or arranged depending on the size of the cup or you could use a novelty type brandy snifter, that should have enough room for the topper) if he doesn't like sweets you could make his favorite meal and decorate it (i.e. lasagna, casseroles, a burger or even a hot dog) just about anything besides soup will probably work...that and pudding. I hope that helped, good luck and happy b-day to the birthday boy! P.s. worms in dirt! gummy worms in crunched up oreos or you could modify a streudel to his tastes You could make a layer 'cake' using phyllo dough instead of actual cake and jelly in between kind of like a big turnover I'd imagine

Come on...what's a birthday without a birthday cake. The dieter can surely skip one day.

*Slice a whole lot of fresh strawberries;
* Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the strawberries;
* Sprinkle some Splenda or other artificial sweetener over the strawberries;
* Let this marinate in the fridge for a couple hours or an afternoon;
* Give the dieter some choices about how to eat the festive strawberries: Your dieter might want to put vanilla yogurt on them; or artificially sweetened ice cream; or put them on angel food cake.

An angel food cake with fresh fruit syrup is yummy. A low-fat pinapple upside down cake made with the low fat recipe version of cake mix and then replace the butter with a light spread. I know, these are still cakes but really almost harmless.
BTW~
I'm sorry, but I don't get why a person can't go off his/her diet for their birthdays---it's only once a year for goodness sakes!

strawberry shortcake. use angel food cake (which is MUCH less fattening than any other cake) and lots of fresh strawberries...good antioxidants. and maybe make just one large serving so dieter doesn't get tempted to eat the leftovers.

I like BT's answer ! what fun is a birthday without the cake.
However there are sugar free cakes at almost any bakery and they taste really good, hard to believe they're sugar free.

You can have angel food cake with light cool whip and fresh berries Or Watch your diet that day as always but indulge in a small slice of cake and to not have seconds. (I prefer the smaller slice of cake to the angel food cake anyday). Remember, you can have a slice of cake while you are on a diet, just don't eat the whole cake, enjoy it.

Try this one. Get a sugar free angel food cake. Slice it crosswise into three slices and spread with lite cool whip or sugar free vanilla pudding and fresh fruit stack it back up and top with more lite cool whip and fresh fruit. You will never miss the extra calories and fat found in a regular cake.
