Druids were the educated class of the ancient Celtic cultures. These cultures were in existence more than a millennium before the birth of Christ (and the start of Christianity). The Gauls (Keltoi) sacked pagan Rome in 387 BC but within a few centuries the Romans started to occupy Celtic territories and they destroyed the Druidic sanctuary on the isle of Mon (Anglesey) in 40 AD. Christianity was introduced into Ireland in 400 AD. The Roman rule of Britain ended in 410 AD. During the Roman occupation, some people probably converted while most priests resisted. The same was true of the introduction of Christianity. Still, this was a LONG time after the beginning of the Celtic culture as we see it, and after Roman rule and there were very few (if any) Druids left. Unfortunately, the Druids had a taboo on writing down things related to their religion, so we have no first-hand sources. The only sources we have are by those who conquered the Druids.

So it is safe to say that since the Celtic cultures existed over 1000 years before the birth of Christ, that from that time until the Roman occupation, they practiced their indigenous way of life. Between the time of the Roman occupation and the introduction of Christianity some MAY have combined their practices with the practices of the pagan Romans (they may have also shared practices with the Norse). And if there were any Druids left, it is possible that they would have converted to Christianity after 400 AD.

This is a very good article about the Druids and their history:

For very good academic information about the Celts, I would recommend anything written by Barry Cunliffe.
Hope this helps.
