Why? Why that question? My only answer to that is, what the outcome of saying this to a woman would be. If she responds by beating the crap out of you, I would say yes that would be rude to call a woman a cuntbag. However, if there were to say a; "positive " response,( seriously) then no, it would not be rude to call a woman a "cuntbag ! hope that did ya ? good luck with this one !

Lady is respectful unless it's the name of a dog, but still respectful for the dog then, anyway. Even if a NY cab driver says" hey lady u gonna pay me or what?", its still respectful. The only other time it could be offensive is in reference to a male. Suppose a friend telling his inept opponent "Hey, Bill, you throw that ball like a little old lady!" Lady can infer a woman of stature, could be a guys girlfriend or wife. "My old lady" either refers to one's mother or gf/wife, but not 'her' mother. To be 'lady-like' is to be refined, polite, feminine, and deserves to be honored 'as a lady ought to be treated/regarded.'A lady-killer is a man who gets a woman to let her guard down as a lady, thereby taking advantage, and perhaps rendering her to feeling cheaply. A 'lady' is never expensive, but may have expensive tastes. Yet 'a lady of the evening' is a polite reference to a prostitute. 'Our lady' is a reference to Mary, or a play of sacred reference. A lady and a gentleman may be formally dressed at a banquet, but some lady and a guy could have done a hit and run on your car's bumper.

It depends--what did she call YOU? If the lady has given no offense, then yes, it is rude. If she was rude to you first in a similar way, then you are completely within your rights to call her that or anything else that is appropriate. Of course, it is often effective to remain polite and yet cold and cutting, and thereby deliver an insult that belittles her for stooping to such cheap language. If that doesn't work, then by all means, let the C-word fly!

If you have to ask! Would it be rude to imply that you are a less than quality individual. Go to the mirror, take note: who's to blame for your inferior attitude? Who hurt you as a child? Look closer... Try in the future to ask questions of the community that are considered formidable.

Henry I suggest the best way for you to find out is go out down town, find the biggest meanest guy walking along with his wife/girlfriend and go up to them and call her one. Trust me, you will have to only do this once to find out.
If, when you are released from hopital, you are still unsure may I suggest voluntary sterilisation so as your genes are not passed on.

You are EXTREMELY RUDE. Would you like it if you were in her shoes? NO. Now where is your etiquette/manners? Surprised this is even on this board or any of the boards at all.
