And Hindus, and related religions. Or can anyone use them, I heard them being referred to as purely meditation beads to cout one's mantra whatever it is. So basically a mala is just a string of beads for anyone to use during meditation independent of religion right?

Malas are for saying mantras but sure, they can be used for any meditation. Malas have a guru bead and a tassel usually. Sandalwood beads are very fragrant and feel nice to the touch. There are 108 beads as a rule in each mala.

No. There is more to it then that. Asians don't usually call what they do Magic but that is what it is. Spellcraft through chants and focus.
