No, what you have to know is the context of this (mis)quote. Back in the day, the rich were dumb but incredibly rich, the poor had "heart" and "faith". What this quote means is the rich is poor in the mind and in knowledge, but the poor is rich in heart. This is DIFFERENT NOW because we have better education. Bill Gates is rich, but he is incredibly smart. Being rich doesn't make you stupid. Not EVERY WORD in the Bible or any religious text is to be taken word for word, some are to be taken in a figurative way.

maybe, Gates is filthy rich, he may be "last in line" to heaven, but only god knows> let us pray for the rich people, that they may love Jesus more than materialism>

It depends, on wheather or not his wealth was used for good in the eyes of our Lord, and if he was a christian. and how it was gained. These factors enter into was it a blessing, well used or a curse.
