Christianity has existed for almost 2000 years. Generation after generation of its followers have predicted Christ's imminent return, the final battle with Satan, the end of the evil reign being "just around the corner." Of course, the false prophets die, and then the next generation carries on this claim, which has ostensibly been going on for hundreds and hundreds of years now.

Don't any of you stop and think to yourselves, "gee, hundreds of generations of people have died firmly convinced that Christ would appear. They were just as certain of this as I am, yet they were wrong. They died, and the centuries passed, and Christ never appeared to reward their faith."

What makes you think for one second what happened to them isn't going to happen to you? The odds are totally against you. To back my argument, I've got millions of dead Christians in the ground for centuries whose faith meant NOTHING. All you have is the same faith, which history has proven counts for nothing.

Gosh, I just love forcing people to "divide by zero." They just start sputtering and coughing.

Come one, come all and witness the Christian faith implode under under the force of the logical reasoning!

Let me answer your question with a question:

What prevents Atheists from opening their eyes to reality? Atheism has existed since the beginning of time. Generation after generation of followers have claimed there is no God. Of course these false prophets die, and then the next generation carries on this claim, which has ostensibly been going on for hundreds of years now.

Don't any of you stop and think to yourselves, "gee, hundreds of generations of people have died firmly convinced that there was no God. They were just as certain of this as I am, yet they were wrong. They died, and the centuries passed, God was never disproved."

What makes you think for one second what happened to them isn't going to happen to you? The odds are totally against you. To back my argument I've got millions of dead atheists in the ground for centuries whose lack of faith meant NOTHING. All you have is the same lack of faith which history has proven counts for nothing.

In other words your argument has no substance. Consider this - if you're right and we're wrong, then all we have lost is a lifetime of sin - you will have lost nothing. But if we're right and you're wrong, then it will have cost you eternity. Please bring valid arguments to the table and not empty accusations.

some christians were born christians...
some christians just call themselves christians even if they are not...
some christians are born-again christians...
some of them are true christians
(and the rest fall in between)

so to answer on behalf of all christians is hard...
but the fact that christianity have survived all these years,
especially during the first Century is amazing...

there must be something about this Way that its followers
were able to turn the world upside down (for all these years)

now, ill try to answer a few of your questions...
what prevents christians eyes from opening to the reality that after all these years christ havent returned yet? well he didnt actually promise them thay he will return to reward their faithfulness... but he did say those that persevere (until the end) will get their reward...

what makes christians think that they will just end up in the ground before christ returns fo them? for them there are only 2 ways out of this world, to die or to be raptured...
... so some will die... (& will rise first) & some will be caught up in the air when christ returns...

its not really blind faith... its what they believe in... just as anyone else have their own belief system...

What's preventing you from opening your eyes to Christ?

My friend, (well, maybe not) Jesus is real. I'd be the first to jump off the bandwagon if my faith only consisted in something I got after I died. I live in Jesus' promise for abundant life in the here and now. I know the difference in my life since He came into it. Complete change for my good. I really got born again and that's in this life.

He will come eventually, doesn't really matter when, I may go to Him in heaven first. That's fine by me. And for your info, those dead Christians are still alive. Yep! But living better in the afterlife than ever they did on earth. Open your eyes.

I love the broad paint strokes...

Should I toss out an ignorant blanket statement about Athiests?

Nah.....

"Christ when you're ready to come back..... I think I'm ready for you to come back, but if you wanna stay wherever exactly it is that you are, well that's fine too... it's really none of my business..." - Carousels by mewithoutYou

Here's a news flash for you, and whoever else needs it....

There are 2 billion Christians and there's only two things ALL of us have in common.... we're human and we'll die. Short of that, pick your topic and you'll find opinions all over the map...

Less generalizing will keep you from looking like a bigot, unless that's what you're going for...

"whose faith meant nothing"

That was a pretty offensive statement

Their faith means EVERYTHING. And although all those "dead" Christians didn't witness Christ's return, I believe He came to get them and they reside with Him now.
As for Christ's return, it could be soon, it could be a millions years from now. No one knows. Not even us Christians.

Personally, I believe that everyone experiences the end of time and Christ's return upon their death.

There is no way of knowing when this will be, but if you were a Christian, it would be something to look forward to instead of something to fear.

I hope you come to see that someday.

What confounds me the most is how they do not know the intricacies of their own faith. In Matthew 24 their savior is talking about the end times and what will happen.....then in a shocking revelation he states that the CURRENT generation will not pass before all these things happen. Right there in Matt 24 verse 34! Well, it is safe to say that didn't happen....so they've been waiting ever since. I wish they would all hold their breath.....(of course they will all reply that I'm taking that out of context or that since I am not of the faith I can't possibly understand the bible.....)

Although I agree with what you are saying I do, and I can't believe I'm going to say this, have to defend the Christians here. They are so wound up in their own belief system that if they didn't believe that it was going to happen in their lifetime, they would have no hope. They do not want to believe that their God would allow things to get any worse. They want to believe that their generation is the chosen one. They seek a better life than what they have but have no idea outside their faith on how to go about getting it, little lone getting it for themselves. If they didn't believe that God would rescue them, they would have no hope, no joy, no future and make the rest of us pay for it.

To back us up, we have all those dead Christians (as you put it) that have died before us, waiting in Heaven. Are you in a hurry for the world to be over? 'Cause when it's over, it's over, no going back, no changing your minds. Just because Jesus hasn't returned yet, doesn't mean he isn't going to. God is giving everyone plenty of time to decide, to become Christians, (and my kids are just now old enough to really understand, so don't rush) He wants everyone to be sure. You have no faith, and that means nothing,. that is your problem. We have faith.

...You can't wear out God's patience that easily.
...2 Peter 3:9 says, "The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is kind toward, not wishing for any to perish, but for all to come to repentance." He is still giving you time to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.
...And God is not confined by time and space as we are - "a day is as a thousand years to the Lord", Scripture tells us.
...Are you ready for the consequences when you find out that God is no mistake, He does exist, and He requires an accounting of your life...if you have not trusted in Jesus Christ, how will you escape God's wrath?
Hebrews 2:2-3 says this:
2 For if the word spoken through angels proved unalterable, and every transgression and disobedience received a just penalty,
3 how will we escape if we neglect so great a salvation?

===> John 1:12 But to as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe on His name.
...I pray that you will come to Him while there is still time.

Fear not - the faithful have their reward, Christ has appeared. ALL the prophets have foretold of Christ's mission. His birth, death, Resurrection, and his return in Glory have been looked forward to since the time of Adam. So far He has been born, died, and was resurrected. We look forward to His return.
