Our casino's made about 100 million last year according to their public statements. Once the govt. took their cut, the bands had about 70 million. Of this a percentage goes back to the local communities in a variety of programs.
After that the rest is divided amongst the bands who use the money for infrastructure and investment. Individuals don't get the money. They are given preference in jobs.
There are other programs from the government that address housing and such.

I'm not sure about other states..or even other casinos in Michigan, but at the one i worked at ALL the members of the tribe get a certain amount each month such as $2500.00 thats per tribe member. Meaning if both the husband and wife are members they get $5,000.00 a month. On top of that they even get bonuses if the casino makes a lot of money(which is a duh!!)
And they don't even have to WORK for it. On top of it all they get preference for jobs at the casino. Which means that even though I may be more qualified for the job if a native american comes in with no job experience and they want the job...they get it!
So i answer to your question that casino is different or they really choose to live like that.

Well, like anyone else, Indians too get greedy. Once they get the taste of money in their mouths, they refuse to give it up. So, the rish continue to get richer, and the poor poorer, while the middle class continues to languish away. Thus is the line blurred between greed lifestyles of Indians and White Man.

They do get some of the money!!!!! They still choose to live like that. I'm not kidding you either. They still have drinking problems and assault charges on them. Money is just a vehicle and not a means to change the class of life they choose to live. Ive known many many Pomo's who live like that and get stipends from the casino's and still live in abject poverty because they want to. It's a trip, I have no idea why either!

You would have to ask them. Most of the casinos are run by outside interests.

The profits are shared among the tribe. Maybe you spend more when you see the shacks?
