I am sorry to hear that. Are you taking any probiotics ? Try taking acidophilus supplements and eat yogurt that contain active live cultures. If yogurt is tough to digest, I suggest eating activia which helps to balance the stomach and the yeast in the vagina everyday. I think one of the reasons why your having recurrent BV is because of the meds that you have been prescribed with because Flagy, Metrogel, and Clindymin as well as Cipro is a type of antibiotics and it killed the good bacteria and therefore the yeast is definitely "out of whack" and has been out of whack, and my suggestion is to rebalance the yeast(take acidophilus supplements, eat yogurt with live cultures, I suggest activia) and stop taking meds because in the long run they will resist and you'll have recurrent BV for the rest of your life and the meds are killing your immune system slowly and also this why the yeast is out of whack because of lack of probiotics. In my opinion, go to someone else and tell them about your situation. Boric Acid believe it or not will cause death and is used for killing weeds. A few suggestions for you is don't douche, keep the vagina clean, and air it out when you sleep (don't wear any underwear), do not have sex because you will flare up and it will hurt a lot more and eat probiotics and bleach does work by the way, and do not use baking soda or vinegar as a home remedy to kill BV because it will make it worse and you do not want it to make it worst. Like I said see another gyno for a second opinion because these meds that you've taken has been definitely overused and it's not healthy.

Seems like your doctor is warey of antibotic use while pregnant. Although some are safe, it can still aggrivate your stomach. Some types of BV can go away on it's own. I've been there twice. Trust your doctor and try to up the intake of yogurt and other food with active cultures in it. It will help aid in healing you plus it's good calcium for the baby. If you notice more discharge or odor or itchiness, go back and get checked out.

I have known to suffer with that because I'm a diabetic but here's some tips...i was looking at your list and it doesn't list clotrimazole on it. Yes, BV is very painful and it itches. Alcohol does do it and also try to keep that area dry...If its wet that might cause it...actually some soaps may cause it too. Tight clothing may cause it too. Pay attention to hygiene...Medications can cause it to flare up ..Always wipe front to back..Its a given. I want to say diet but I'm not really sure on that one...Someone told me stress causes it too. If its happening far too many times there's something to be done. Dont worry be patient...you will be fine just dont get frustrated like you seem to be with this...Its a problem it can be fixed, there is a cure out there.Just keep talking to your dr.If the dr has tried all the alternatives, it might be more serious...only a dr knows for sure .... Good luck...

I've been dealing with this longer than that and have tried many of the same things. I read in one of the answers that some one used bleach in their bath. I'm wanting to know how full you filled the tub (I'm ready to try it now!). But also, I started eating Activa last year at some point and had horrible gas (TMI?) so I quit. Well, thinking back, this time last year, I also rid myself of BV. I'm thinking that I must have eaten it during this time. I would like to thank everyone for their suggestions to Lynn because it has helped me find other methods! I've been on the meds and clindyse(sp) and am sick of it (so is my husband)!

I will admit, the last time I was there, my doc said something about Boric Acid and I thought he was joking....Thanks again!

It sounds like antibiotics will fix this problem, but if you have been on all those meds, maybe it's not really BV you have. Perhaps you should get a second opinion about your diagnosis. Here is what the Center for Disease Control has to say about BV.

They gave you boric acid? That stuff is used to kill roaches. You named all the best cures already, is it that they aren't working for you? I've known people who have taken the gel and it has worked, don't know about the Flagl though. maybe you aren't following the directions carefully or maybe your mate has some form of it too and is spreading it back to you. Don't have sex during treatment, to be on the safe side give yourself a sex-free week before and after treatment maybe this will ensure that it doesn't come back, but as far as I know, those treatment should have worked for you.

Okay this going to sound really crazy, but try taking a bath with a capful of bleach. I used to catch BV all the time and it seem like I could never cure it. I was talkind to the nurse at my doc office and she told me to try it. I was so tired of it recurring I gave it a shot and I haven't had a recurrence since then. I took all the medications you took with the excpetion of boric acid (i thought that was for roaches) and nothing seem to kill it, but the bleach in addition to those medications.
