That is a good question... I could not say. I know that some idiot thinks that it was really used as a word for the first time in the early 1700's but the doctrine is Hebraic and the references in the Bible are numerous and the command is that God will share His glory with no one yet Christ allowed Himself to be worshiped... Thomas the Apostle said to Christ... "My Lord and My God."

The word trinity is not in scripture, so therefore, it is irrelevant. It came about at the Nicene Council of 325 AD. There is only One God, and his name is Jesus. If you worship Jesus, then you are worshiping god. End of story

Good question.
I can tell you It is used because of three in one
tri = unity
But, as for when the actual word Trinity started to be used is a good question. Good Luck, I hope someone knows the answer.

the trinity became official church doctine in the 4th century .. but trinities were around in egyptian mythology ..er ..religion, way before that (ra,osirus,isis, horus, etc ...were parts of various trinities)
