I have had 4 teeth pulled in 76 years. Each time I was asked by the dentest to leave the packing in the cavity until the next morning, then to rinse my mouth with salt water, gently so as not to cause it to start bleeding again, the blood clot will soon go away, My guess is you could be eating steak in 10 days to 2 weeks give or take a day or two eather way.

From personal experience....I would wait a good 2-3 days before chewing on that side, and the clot stays there for atleast that long. You don't want to disrupt it either because you can get dry socket which sucks. will probably be a good week until it is close to being healed...good luck and pop those pain pills...my dentist always gives me vicoden....
