How long can you keep frozen ground beef. I know you can't defrost it and then freeze it again, but how long can it stay frozen and still be okay?

I used to take the meat out of the container and wrap it in plastic wrap then into a Ziploc freezer bag with the date on the outside.
Ground beef will stay 6 months in the freezer without freezer burn this way but I find it is always dryer than fresh.

Frozen beef last for a very long time!!! Most people say you can smell it and if it has any odor at all it's bad... most of the time that only happends though if the meat gets defrosted even slightly. Just check it to make sure.

This site states 3-4 months for ground beef. I am sure that I have had ground beef in the freezer longer, but not much.

I'd say, to be safe, if you aren't ready to use the ground beef within the 4 months time limit, thaw it, cook it into sauce, meatloaves, meatballs, etc. and re-freeze that way.

I probably would only keep mine about 3 months although it may hold for up to 6 if wrapped Well. I guess if you really think about it when someone butcher or buys a whole or side of beef you use on it for the next year. so there you go!

I would not keep it for long in the freezer, it will not taste good. Your best bet is usually to buy the meat the day you plan on serving it or the day before you plan on serving it. It is fresher that way.

As long as it remains frozen, you can keep it indefinitely. While it might get freezer burn after a time, it would still be safe to eat - it just wouldn't taste as good.
