I have some chicken that has been in the freezer since December 2005. Will I die if I eat it?

If vacuum sealed - it will keep in the freezer for 6 months to a year. If it is still in the original styrofoam tray with saran wrap from the grocery store - chances are, it won't harm you as long as it is cooked thoroughly - but it may not taste all that great either.

Best advice is: When in doubt - throw it out!

No you will not die. As with all meat and especially chicken you do want to cook it well. The only thing that that can really happen to frozen meat is freezer burn. With freezer burn the meat is still edible it will just be tough and have a sort of bitter taste to it. So go ahead and chow down! MAC

I would not freeze meat for too long because I have noticed that it looses its flavor and becomes freezer burned after a while. So if you plan on freezing it take it out of the wrapping it comes in, wrap it in plastic wrap, then, wrap it in a layer of heavy duty aluminum foil.

I really think your best bet would be to just buy the meat fresh from a butcher or market the day or the day before you plan on serving it.

There is no definative answer to this as all deep frrezers are different. ie they mantain varying temperatures. You need to consult the guide that came with the freezer or look on the inside of the door - as a lot of them post this info there - for different food types and estimated longevity of such food types. If the freezer ever defrosts for some reason and the food thaws....best throw it out as it is probably ruined.
