I think I know what you're meaning, and some people assume the poor one will ask for stuff even if they're not going to. Some people are just like that. You can only change the less than good about yourself, not them, so do your best at things and keep your self respect. Do not be desperate to be their best friends. They might come around, but don't hope for it. You've got your wife though, thank goodness.

First u have to get self-sufficiency that means by earning some money. Don't depend on them for any thing. Slowly u try to change the attitude of ur wife to leave them and live separately. This is the better solution to protect ur self respect.

quit acting like a beggar and make your own way in this world.
maybe then you will be respected
you do not need in-laws money, you didn't have it before you married. and who said you are poor? you are the richest man in the world -- you have a beautiful woman for a wife.
you won her heart for who you were not how much money you had
now who is the beggar? it certainly cant be you. maybe you need to point that out to her family
it doesnt take money to win love or respect, maybe rich family dont know that yet and you should tell them.

First thing that I would do is either learn to spell or stop being too lazy to use the spell checker. Poor grammar is the sign of a lazy mind and that could be very apparent in the attitude that you project. If you want respect, you have to earn it. If you want self respect, figure out what you do not like about yourself and make changes in your life!

First, give yourself respect and stop trying to get it from others. Money has nothing to do with respect--it has to do with the idea of coupons--paper you hand over to get something else. If you think you need their respect, then you are selling yourself short. Ever hear the term 'self esteem'? It's a lot better than 'other esteem' because it's portable--you take it with you wherever you go.

That's your wife's mistake,She must take care about her husband's self-respect instead of her family..because after marriage husband is her life..How dare they treat you like begger in front of her?? To keep your dignity she should fight with her family anyway..you should do what your heart say..at least u should keep your dignity if you are educated and able to earn money more than they do..show them off who are U...

To get the respect, from others First respect yourself. Why r u being treated by them like Berger?? ask this question to yourself.
You did not mentioned, r u dependent upon them or self dependent.
What is your wife role in this episode?? If they or insulting u this means she is also getting insulted. On the contrary you must be suffering from inferiority complex. They may wanted to help u, Please specify Ur question & if u find me suitable u can mail me.

No one can take your self-respect from you unless you let them have it. Make an attitude adjustment. It is you that is causing you to feel less than they are by your own assessment. Read your question again! It is YOU that is convinced you are not as good. She married you because you are different from them. Get your priorities right. PS. I've been there too and it took me years but I've got it now. Good luck.
