Clickers is a teaching tool for dogs. They work great. When you are training your dog at first you wait for him to do something- example to sit-as soon as his bottom touches the ground - you click-marking the exact behavior you want from your dog. Then you treat. Your dog will be going crazy trying to figure out what he just did. Then when his bottom hits the ground you click and treat. Dogs love this training. You and your dog have a good time. You should check out clicker training.

Clickers are a great tool when you're beginning to teach a dog something. For example, if you're trying to teach a puppy to sit, any time that puppy sits (even if you haven't given the command ahead of time) you click instantly, then reward with a treat. The puppy very quickly associates the behaviour with the sound of the clicker, followed by a treat. You don't need to keep on using the clicker forever, but it's good in the beginning to get a puppy started. I used it on my first 2 greyhounds shortly after I got them to teach them "watch me" and it's now 6 years later, and they do it like it was just taught.

It is a behavior modification technique. The clicker is associated with a reward and aid in getting behaviors you want from the dog. The reward is not given every time the clicker is used, this is called intermittant reinforcement and is the most powerful kind.

A clicker is a training aid. After a dog is trained using a clicker it will respond when clicker is used with commands.

It marks good behavior so a dog knows what he is being rewarded for and thus will repeat the behavior.
Works great when you don't loose the clicker like I always do!!

You use it while clicker training your pet. When he does something right, you click it and give him a treat. Eventually you can move on and only give a treat occasionally. Here's a website for more information: http://www.clickertrain.com/index.html

It marks the behavior, letting the dog know he earned a treat. You can do the same thing with a word like good or yes, you don't need to buy a gadget to do it.

It is a way of rewarding the dog. You start off by clicking and giving them a treat after they do something good (I.e. Fetch, sit, etc.) Eventually you just start cling and no treating.

It's a training aid. They get used to the sound, like a command and respond to it.
