I don't think it's ever too late to start building some muscle.. But not to make you feel old, but at your age it needs to be easy workouts. Especially if your not working out now. You should probably start out using your own weight. ex: when you do arm lifts don't use weights at first use your own body weight. Then gradually add weights as the use of your own body weight becomes easier. Also, you might want to do some stretches, because as in yoga, it helps stretch out the bones and muscle which in-turn elongates the body. Try these and if you want more advice try asking your regular physician on what you could do to try and add muscle tone. I'm sure he'll be more than helpful seeing as how your trying to improve with age. Good luck! Sara.

I'm 54 and have had "flesh eating disease" and my muscles especially in my legs are weak. I like walking because it is not so strenuous. If you walk briskly and move your arms back and forth perhaps that will aid you in getting rid of the flabby upper arm. It just about kills me to work out at the gym so that's why I decided upon walking. Good Luck

No my dear, you are definitely NOT too old to start toning up. I am 59 and have signed up with a new place just opening in our area. Personal trainers, weights, exercise, the whole nine yards! My reason is because I am tired of carrying this extra weight and want to feel and look better. I remember when I still lived back in Ohio, my mother (who was 65 at the time), myself and my daughter were all going to a fitness center (I would name it but chances are real good you've never heard of it, besides, it doesn't exist anymore) together. It's never too late to start taking care of yourself, be it your body, mind or soul.

You can always start a workout program. At my gym there are older folks working right alongside 20 year olds. Especially with things that are easier on your joints, like elliptical machines and swimming, you can stay at a good level of health for years to come.

your never to old to get tone. i have found that one of the best places to go for toning and working out with people who are not just there to pick up on women is your local ymca. the have excellent programs for all ages and the give you free sessions with a personal trainer who can figure out what exercises would be best for you. GOOD LUCK!

Its never too late to start working out. It would make you alot healthier and feel alot better. Try not to overdo it though. Take your time, you don't want to pull a muscle.
