Yes, this is called Ascites. It is an accumulation of fluids in the abdominal cavity resulting from the liver's inability to properly filter. It is usually drained in the clinical setting by placing a needle into the affected area and siphoning the fluid out. As cirrhosis worsens, the ascites will get worse and worse, needing more frequent drainings.

The condition is a form of edema called Ascites. It is edema that accumulates in the abdominal region and is classic with liver disease. Its cause is low serum albumin levels due to the liver not able to make this protein in sufficient amounts.
