My name is Julie.How do I write my name is Kanji??

A lot of people mistakenly call Hiragana and Katakana (and just about every other non-Chinese character) as "Kanji". It's not a bad thing, but it's like people who refer to their computer's hard drive as "memory" - two different animals.

Kanji is the character set used by the Chinese. Kanji appears in the Japanese language (right along side Hiragana and Katakana), but they are borrowed from the Chinese. As one of my native-Japanese students once told me, "We added to the Kanji to make it ours" ("ours" being the Japanese people's).

All Japanese names are written in Kanji. All non-Japanese names are written (as spookysickness pointed out) using Katakana. In your case, your name would be written as ジューリー (ju-ri-)

Those hyphen-looking characters are used to extend the sound of the character it follows, so rather than say "ju-ri", the "u" in "ju" and the "i" in "ri" would be held out a little longer than normal.

If you absolutely must have Kanji, there are people who will translate your name for you, but don't be surprised if your name doesn't jump out of a Kanji dictionary when you go to look them up.

As I found out when I had my name translated into Kanji characters, their original meaning, how they're pronounced, how they're used in combination with other Kanji, and how they're actually read, can all be different.

If you want kanji for your name, I would suggest you 樹里 same as Black Dog. There is a famous actress Juri Ueno (in Japan L and R are pronouced the same, so you could say it's relevant to Julie) with this kanji.

Or Ju could be either 寿(happiness) or 珠(gem). So now you have three options

樹里(tree + hometown)
珠里(gem + hometown)
寿里(happiness + hometown)

1. Please learn even the slightest little about a language before asking a question on it. Japanese is not Chinese and kanji is not used for foreign names because they have a special syllabary for that--katakana.
