I don't support the war, but I support the troops. But yes, that should have been done a long time ago.

I would have to say yes. No doubts. I come from several generations of military, and someone from my family has been in just about every war or conflict involving this country since the mid-19th century. People may not agree with war, but that dosn't mean our troops should be disraced. They are some of the few left in left in ths world who can take a stand and fight for their country. I may not be a fan of war, but I will die defending my country. I know for a fact that troops overseas rely on the support of the American people. It may not seem like much, but just knowing that someone, anyone, back home supports them means the world to them. It's why they fight. So yes, I support our troops, and pray every night for them too. Semper Fi.

We as a society, must support our troops, let them know we support them and do what it takes to insure victory.

Viet Nam was a failure because the media and the Peace movement fought against our troops. America cannot be pacifist, try to hide and ignore world events. By being strong, we have broken down the Iron Curtain and basically made friends with the Russians, who for almost 40 years was our mortal enemy.

Peace can work, but it takes two. Israel signed peace accords with several countries and live in peace with them. Until the Terrorists and countries that support them, stop the killing, screw their heads on right, and be serious ab out peace, we will have to be vigilant.

I support the troops and yes, would pay more in taxes to support them in their misson.

War will never be good, and it sucks that we have to be involved letting our loved ones go over seas, but freedom isn't handed out on a silver platter. If we wanna keep it, we need to keep setting the example that "you" (the general person) don't wanna f#ck with us cause we'll f#ck your sh!t up. You gatta fight for what you believe in. No taxes, sounds nice, but not if Osama Bin Laden is the ruler of my country, enslaving us. I'd rather pay taxes and be able to do what the hell I want when I want. If we didn't have taxes, we wouldn't have a govt; that's what taxes were created for. They provide a service and we pay to have that service available. Have you ever heard of a store that gives everything it "sells" away for free? And I had better be willing to support out troops, since my Hubby is one. Any one who doesn't support our troops doesn't deserve to live in America.

Yes! I post about this all the time - if you support the troops you oppose tax cuts.

Taxes train, feed, equip, protect, deploy, and redeploy me home.

Jeff F, you're description of the Laffer Curve admits that there's a point of diminishing returns. But you assume taxes are above that level and ripe for lowering. Try and wrap your brain around this: What if we're already too low?

Look, no matter what your argument with the conflict is, take that up with your representatives and the government. The troops deserve every bit of support we can give them. What was done to many of the Vietnam Vets upon arrival back state side was a disgrace and no one shoudl ever be put throught that.

Do you really not understand that by lowering taxes revenues actually go up. Try to wrap your brain around this... Taxes are lowered and everyone has more disposable income. By having more disposable income you buy more goods and services. The additional goods and services purchased causes more demand. To meet the increased demand the employers have to hire more people. The additional people hired to meet demand pay taxes thus adding to the total tax revenues. Also, going back a couple steps, the increased sales increases profits so the business owners pay more taxes thus increasing the tax revenues.

Increasing taxes has the opposite effect. Higher taxes, less disposable income, fewer goods and services purchased, people get laid off due to less demand, fewer people paying taxes, lower total tax receipts, increased unemployment, recession.

Of course there is a point of diminishing returns where if taxes are lowered too much the revenues will actually start to go down.

Yes. They are the troops fighting on our behalf. They deserve our support and prayers

The troops? I always support them. I am sure they would much rather be home with those they love, so they definitely deserve our support. Higher taxes? Start with the rich. Trickle-down economics doesn't work.

More than willing. I'd even trade places with them. Let's remember Viet Nam and don't let our troops feel disgraced this time. They are just doing what we hired them to do. And if you don't think war is neccessary, get your unneccessary @ss out of America.
