I go to a chorus early in the morning, and my voice is dry, grainy and gravelly when i try to sing.
and whatever i try to sing comes out forced because my voice can't get too loud without becoming falsetto and cracked.
my voice is kind of like Cinderella- it's horrible in the morning, and better at night. so. anyone have any tips on warming up/ drinks that improve your voice?

i'll appreciate any kind of help. thanks!

Drink a cup of licorice root tea. You can find it at any health food store. It's not the most delicious thing you'll ever taste but it will loosen up your voice.

(P.S. I'm sure you know this but NEVER gargle salt water or drink alcohol before singing. It will only dry out your larynx.)

For starters, make sure you get a good night's sleep. My voice teacher told me how much your body and stress level affects your voice. I know this to be true by experience. I live in a loud apartment building and when I don't sleep well my voice sounds "froggy" and "unclear." When I have a performance coming up I try to drink more water during that week. As for the morning, I'd warm up the vocal chords and stretch them out just like you'd exercise your body. Simple scales should do the trick.

even though it's not fun, i've found that if you get up really early and begin warming up, by the time you actually have to sing your voice is much better. but that may just be me.

Umm...Don't drink milk for breakfast but have something hot. Like coffee or hot tea. This will clear your throat out.
