most of the time they don't know the persons name. so how could they print a obituary when they know nothing of this person. it is a sad fact but it is true. sorry to hear about your friend.

maybe if you call up to the town that he died in maybe the police could give you the info you are looking for.

Someone...a family member or friend, has to pay to put an obituary in the paper. If no one pays the paper and gives them information to put in it, it's not done, for anyone. Not just the homeless. They don't just print obituaries as if they are news. They are more like a classified ad. Same with birth and wedding and graduation announcements.

Homeless people can't afford a name, therefore it can't be put in the paper. A great example is Dave. I'm sure Dave was a great person, however Dave didn't even have a last name.

Because most newspapers require that someone from the family or funeral home put the article in the paper. The newspaper is probably not even aware of your friends death. You may be able to put a tribute or a obit into the paper yourself. I am sorry for your loss.

He may not have been in the actual obituaries but there should be a mention of him in the death notices.

it is very expensive to put an obituary in the paper.i believe it should be free.but so sad most people dont give a darn about the homeless.i live in florida and i see homeless mothers, children, families everyday.i guess the world thinks if we dont care about the homeless while they are living, then who cares when they are dead.

Maybe there weren't funds to have a proper burial. I don't know what a newspaper's responsibility is...to print everything including the fact that this man may have had no relatives, or didn't really know who he was. Some people are just forgotten.
