I was watching a program on tv one time that did a study and found that you could lose up to 10lbs in a year just by cutting out soda. I know it doesn't sound like much, but that also means you could gain up to 10lbs a year by drinking it! Don't eat fast food more than once a week or every other week. If you feel like you can't cut out all the junk try eating half. I am also trying to lose a little bit more weight and instead of eating a full candy bar, like TWIX, I'll eat one bar, or half. Instead of buying the 20oz coke, I go for the can size and sometimes I share that with my husband. Just think of all the ways you can down-size what you eat. You'll be amazed. My family and I went to the Olive Garden and had a great dinner, felt satisfied and everything and we only ordered 2 entrees. We did have salad and bread sticks, but I should mention that we are a family of 7! The moral is pay attention to serving sizes! I wish you success!

It's not guaranteed, but that helped me. As for sodas, it'd help if you quit drinking them completely. You will lose weight A LOT faster if you drink water. Water is ESSENTIAL to weight loss. Not to mention that sodas of ANY kind, diet or otherwise, have detrimental effects on your health. Diet sodas, while they may have no sugar or calories, are truly bad for your bones, teeth, stomach, liver, kidneys, bladder and skin, to name a few things.
If you have trouble drinking enough water a day (generally 6-8 glasses, though that can vary for the individual), I would suggest buying a 32 oz reusable water bottle (available at most sports stores) and making sure you drink two a day. It's an easy way to keep track of what you've had to drink. Your teeth will be whiter, your stomach will have less damage (from the acidic soda), your liver and kidneys will be cleansed, your bladder will be cleansed and won't be storing such acidic urine, your skin will feel more moisturized and will clear up within weeks.
If you don't eat after 6 and drink a lot of water, within weeks you will look good outside AND feel great inside. Your skin will glow, your teeth will be brighter; you will feel terrific!

Quitting the regular sodas may do more than stop eating after 6pm will. I know that I lost 10 pounds in a very short time when I was unable to drink regular pop.

you will lose some, depends on your regular day to day activity. A sedentary lifestyle means that you'll still need to exercise. And without exercise the fat you do lose will turn into flab.

But yes, cutting out the sugar in regular soda's will, at the very least, delay a type 2 diabetes diagnosis for a few years.

It would help more if you would watch what you were eating all day long and started an exercise routine but stopping regular sodas and not eating after six should really help you to lose some weight.

the best thing in my opinion is to replace alllll sugary drinks with water. if you dont eat past six and only drink water, i promise you will lose weight and its not all that hard. sugar is what makes people gain weight, so by cutting back on that in your drinks alone it will help big time, especially if you drink a lot of sugary drinks (any coke, snapples, most fruit drinks, etc). If you have the disciplin, cut back on eating sugar, but i would say if you cut back in the drinks you will lose. i stopped drinking just coke and i lost 5 pounds in less than a week. keep in mind though, im 5-8 and 130 pounds and didnt really drink much coke drinks and still ate late at night.

well if start on diet sodas that might help. if you cut the amount that you drink, like a soda at luch and maybe one fore snack. avoid making soda drinking a habit. if you have a midnite snak or something along thoes lines you will be fine. cut your meals to at the max. of 5 meals a day.

Swap a bowl of pasta for just a bowl of vegetables. You can cut back to 200 calories by lowering the starch and adding greens.
