PC is ruining this country. Call a spade a spade. If someone does something fantastic ackowledge it, if they do something bonehead condemn it, don't worry about the color of their skin.
Political Correctness even has a backlash. I am an African American teacher who has worked hard to get a doctorate degree but so many people think I got here through affirmative action and by passing over the whites. I want credit for being a hard-working, intelligent, honest person, regardless of my skin color.
PC GO AWAY.

Political correctness can be a genuine expression, or it can be a cover-up. Unfortunately some of the extremes we go to to be politically correct, turn the whole thing into a farce.
For example, we can't say someone is disabled, we have to say they are differently abled. That, to me, is clumsy to say, and doesn't mean anything. Disabled means that for some reason, they are not able to do things that most people can. And that often means that they face up to and overcome incredible challenges in order to function. Disabled, to me, isn't a derogatory word.
However, 'differently abled' means that someone has abilities that are different from mine. A child prodigy has abilities that differ from mine. An idiot savant has abilities that differ from mine. But classing a child prodigy with an idiot savant by calling them both 'differently abled' is helpful to neither.
Or am I all alone in this?

America is a melting pot of ethnicities, cultures, religions, and ideologies. Political Correctness is our way of dealing with things we're not familiar with. Rather than embarass themself by being rude and ignorant some people would rather err on the side of being overly sensitive.
In the end it's a personal choice. If you don't like being PC then stop.

Political correctness, when used correctly, is definitely a good thing. If it didn't exist, we would live in a world where everyone just said what they thought with no consideration of the impact. Political correctness is a tool that is good, but when used too much or wrongly, defeats the point of any debate about important subejects and make things too vague. So yes, political correctness, when used correctly, is good

Worse.
No Child Left Behind is the ultimate in p.c. Sorry, but not all kids are at the same level of intellingence. There are gonna be those who can't make the honor roll... which my daughter's school has done away with so as not to hurt anyone's feelings (eyeroll here!).

Definitely worse. And unfortunately, being politically correct doesnt apply to everyone. Some have more freedom of speech that others. And that's not "politically correct"!

Straightforward honesty is the right way to go. Covering up the real problem with fancy words does noone any good. I hate political correctness.

all i know is, if i were in a wheelchair and some jackass called me "handi-capable", i'd get up and beat his a.s.s. with a baseball bat.(or at least get a friend to do it - LOL) truth is always better. political correctness turns us into a bunch of thin-skinned, hypersensitive weenies. only the weak minded cannot endure the verbal assaults of idiots. it takes someone on your own level to insult you, right? mean spirited people are beneath my notice...how about you?

Worse, because it is false.
We've become a bunch of weenies in the quest not to insult anyone nor see nor tell it like it is.
