Hanging a window scarf looks so easy, but you have to play around with it quite a bit. Also, The length and width of your fabric can make a lot of difference.

These two web sites give a brief explanation:

Scarf curtains are among the most frustrating things to hang and get right. The trick is to start by draping the centre of the scarf over the centre of the rod and put a sewing pin in from the back to hold it in place. Continue draping and adjusting and re-adjusting toward each side, and pin as you go. Once the scarf is looking nice, adjust your pins one at a time so that they are not visible. The pins hold things in place enough that if you bump into them or if there is a good gust of wind the scarf will need minimal adjusting at the most.

The most difficult part is the centre swag and then getting the two ends to hang down nicely. For the ends, depending on the length of the scarf, you can get creative and either use a braided cord to tie on some trim or tassel to create a more dramatic look, or carefully iron a couple of soft pleats into the fabric to keep it hanging straight.

Unfortunately, every time you take the scarf down to wash it you're going to have to go through this all over again. Good luck!

it can be hard to hang that kind of curtain. i hung them in my mom's house and it is tricky. it is even more tricky to explain.

first, gather the curtain into a skinny strip. fold it in half length wise.
next, take the very middle of the fold and put it over the rod from the back and pul it a Little way over.
then, take each long side and put them over the rod from the front, go on the outside of the brackets that hold the rod to the wall.
after that, kinda tug the long pieces until you have the center pulled up the level you want it.
take the edges of the center and use them to cover the ends of the rod, shape it the way you want it. pull the center down so it hangs lower than the edges but the top stays over the rod. ,in a swooping way
good luck , i know how frustrating this can be.
