Watch for library sales...they often have annual sales to make room for new books. Charitable organizations frequently hold used books sales once or twice a year. Garage sales and thrift stores are another rich source. Goodwill in particular often has a great selection. Estate auctions are the most likely to yield real treasures and sometimes you will be able to win a whole boxful for a buck or two. There are used bookstores everywhere but here you will pay the most. Finally,Ebay has thousands of books cheap if you are looking for particular genres or age of books.

There are lots of great answers here on where to find books. But I would like to give you another suggestion. You may already know this, but keep in mind that you dont have to fill a book shelf with just books. And never completely fill all the shelves to there compacity. That will just make it look cluttered. Great things to display on a bookcase besides books are pottery, picture frames, sculptures. (not tacky figurines) Natural things, like pieces of coral or a large sea shell also look great. My mother has a country theme in her house and she displays bird houses in her bookcases along with a few books. And if nothing of this sort interests you, you could always buy square or rectangle shaped baskets that fit the size of the bookcase shelf. They will take up some the empty space and you would also have a place to hide unsightly items. Good Luck!

If you have a Half Price Books in your area, you can usually find a lot of great books for cheap. Also, garage sales and thrift stores are other good resources.

Garage sales are especially great, because most people just want to get rid of the books. I had one a few years ago, and I had a whole bookcase of books I collected from my parents and friends. I couldn't give them away. Just offer a bulk price for all of the books you see at the next garage sale you go to, and I'd bet they'd agree to sell them.

My first suggestion would be to start reading and put the books you have read on the shelves.

However, you can go to any public library where people turn in books to them to be sold to help the libraries buy more materials.

If the fancy spines are all you want, take those and leave the others. Be aware, however, that many of those books are moldy and have an odor.

Reading the publication instead of observing the movie is the ultimate way to see what the author expected. Reading uses your thoughts, hones your reading skills, and can transform your life vocabulary
