you could lose a lot. thats what my friend did. but as soon as she ate real food again she ballooned. im sorry but fad diets are no good. they cause you to lose a lot of nutrients you need to live. be smart. eat salads, low-fat poultry and fish, and exercise. even a jog around the block twice a day can really help.

It's hard to say. Weight loss varies per person. The theory behind the "soup diets" though is that it is a convenient way to get a complete or balanced meal because it contains grains, vegetables, possibly starches and meat. It also has a high water content which will give you a satiated (full) feeling. The catch is that you need to eat soups that have a low sodium content. A lot of soups you buy in the store have astronomically high levels of sodium! You also want to stay away from any soups that do not have a clear broth (i.e., the creamy varieties) because they are usually cream or milk based, not water based and these can have a high fat and cholesterol content. You'd be spending a lot of time reading the labels!

You could get the same results by having salads, a small helping of a lean meat or beans, rice or pasta and drinking a full glass of water before and after your meal. And, as with any diet, you should also exercise regularly.

Good luck!

It's not what you eat. It's how many calories a day. So, for example, a cream-based soup would make you lose less than a broth based one. And a special fat-free version would make you lose more than a non-diet version. Read the labels of soup cans, and look at the calorie needs for women charts in the site below to figure how much soup you could eat, and how much you'd lose.

That depends on:

- How much soup you eat
- What's in the soup
- How much exercise you get
- What you drink besides the soup

Good luck with your soup diet. As long as you exercise and burn more calories than you take in from the soup, you should be able to lose as much as you want.

there's actually this cabbage soup/mash diet thing. you eat nothing but the cabbage stuff for x number of days.. i think 2 weeks? and you're supposed to lose 10 pounds.

a friend's brother did it because he was in the marines and it worked for him. the problem is, once you stop, you're almost guaranteed to gain all the weight back. plus, it's not really healthy to lose that much weight in that short amount of time.

Depends on the caloric content of the soups...
One pound of fat is 3500 calories...
It takes about 10 calories per pound of body weight to
maintain that weight in a sedentary person...
You may weigh 200lbs which means it would take 2000 calories per day to maintain this weight..
You eat 1000 calories per day which means you are 1000 calories short per day meaning you should lose 1 lb. every 3 1/2 days...

I've lost 5 kilos in my first week. It's my 10th day and I have included salad with some protein (eg. egg/ lean chicken) as you suggested. After 4 years of trying, the fat is finally coming off. It truly feels like magic!

Depends on what kind of soup. Some soups are fattening...like clam chowder and any cream based soups.
