You try to be near him as much as possible and try to be gentle to him. Hold his hand, kiss him, hug him. Basically make him feel loved. If you do it just right, he will realize that no matter how bad any day of his life is, as long as he's with you, he'll be in heaven.

Leave him alone with time to cool down, but let him know you are there for him when he is ready to talk. Don't smother him or smootchy cuddle him constantly right away.
