That is rude.

No because the implication is that you are lesser than.
This is an opening line to for someone to share their beliefs in christianity. It is insulting and disrespectful. Such a conversation should only be had with someone you love and trust, not a stranger and certainly not someone you do business with. You were right to feel ackward.

I don't think it is appropriate to ask anyone that ever. I suffered through years of that type of quesitoning in the workplace. It is awkward. I used to tell them that I didn't feel that the workplace was an appropriate place to discuss religion. I don't know what I would say in your situation where it was completely out of the blue.

Yea, these people are just a little too enthusiastic...that's all....just say 'yes.' If the asker persists just say that you were baptized and so...you were 'saved.'

'No' is not a good response, neither is feeling awkward (which is 'no' by default!) All in all, the asker will be much happier if you just say 'yes.'

I will not be held responsible for any 'trouble' this answer may cause you....lol.

That would irritate me..... I don't think that is appropriate to ask perfect strangers. Could be taken as trying to force religion on someone.

NO! That is so rude. Religion is a private matter. I would find another mechanic. If he's not the owner, I would complain to the owner or manager.

I don't think that he meant any harm. When I was asked, I felt a little uncomfortable too, thats normal. It was the best decision I ever made though. Please don't take offense, it honestly isn't meant that way. In your defense, he put you on the spot, the timing was off.

Maybe appropiate is not the word...He just wanted to share his faith with you and didn't figured out a best way to start that conversation. It guess it made you think about it probably...that's why you ask.

Absolutely not! Report him to his supervisor.

I once had someone approach me and out of the blue, asked me that. It just happened to be about a week after my husband had died. I burst out in tears.

No, no and NO!

the timing was inappropriate, not the question itself. it could be the most important question anyone ever asks you. if it made you feel awkward or uncomfortable, there is a good chance that you are not saved. may God bless and guide you

I just say "From what?" And then when they rant on about their tiresome religious nonsense, I tell them I'm a gay Satanist.
