cleanest animals, sure they do porky things but they clean themselves up beautifully after, they are quite intelligent too and can be trained to hunt for truffles. I just think they don't want fellow Muslims to be tempted to taste the beautiful flavour of a crispy smokey bacon sandwich. But what do you think?

Muslims are not alone in this belief. Jewish people also hold the pig to be an unclean creature. In the bible Jesus casts evil spirits (Legion) into a nearby swine...an animal considered to be unclean. You have to understand, however, that back then the people did not "cure" pork the way we do today. As a result many became sick from the eating of this animal and as a result the eating of it was eventually branded as "unclean." Eventually it's "uncleanness" became a tradition of the faith even though today it is no longer unclean.

Ever heard of trichinosis (sp?)? A pig eats out of the mud, and gets worms and bacteria. This is then transferred to your body when you eat undercooked pig meat. Eventually, the parasites, bacteria, and worms makes its way to your brain. It eats your brain away until you die. Also, it's not just Muslims that say pigs are dirty. Observant Jews don't eat pig meat as well. Probably because God knew of the dangers of trichinosis (sp?). Sure, bacon may taste good, but if it's not prepared properly it can be deadly. You also did a fairly poor job of refuting the Muslims' saying pigs carry diseases.

muslim laws and beliefs are old so they rely on old knowledge. pigs carry serious diseases that can kill you if they are eaten without proper cooking and cleaning so were banned from diets to protect health of muslims.
this is still true but can be overcome with very good cleaning and hot cooking to kill cysts or germs or whatever. the average muslim still cannot afford these measures so it is best to avoid pork today as it was 1500 years ago.
it is easier to just ban pork than it is to show how to safely use it and give the means to do so and the education needed.
the fact that pigs are intelligent is yet another reason to not kill and eat it. muslims do not like meat eating as it harms other lives. so most are vegetarian and avoid all meat, not just pork.
pigs cannot find truffles after they are dead so best to keep them as pets and let them work to find truffles than to kill and eat them.
like the old saying" do not kill the pig that finds the truflfes" ( I just made that up)

I think you have lost your mind. Pigs, altho you say they clean themselves up, are the garbage disposal of the animal kingdom. They eat whatever, wherever, and whenever they want. Their digestive systems do not process food like cows or other animals. They process things much faster and therefore the gross stuff they consumed (such as their own POOP) has not filtered out and remains in their bodies.....oh geesh I could go on.........
But biblically speaking.......the swine is an unclean animal and shouldnt be eaten. Now, from the gourmet side of things..........yes a few slices of bacon is yummy.

In one way you are correct, but in another you are utterly wrong. Pigs themselves are tidy creatures. But pigs are processing plants of disease. As are Catfish. Something else dubbed biblically unclean.
Pigs have been used to clean up towns because they will eat anything, including corpses. As such, pig flesh carries disease. A pig's immune system keeps the pig from getting a disease, but allows its body to manufacture superbugs.
Factory farming - having acres of pigs piled one on top of the other - is one of the reasons America is dying. We're killing ourselves for love of toxic flesh.

God commanded that they don't eat pork. Deuteronomy 14:8 And the swine, because it divideth the hoof, yet cheweth not the cud, it is unclean unto you: ye shall not eat of their flesh, not touch their dead carcase. Plus the Anti Christ will be using the pig to desecrate the temple. The swine represented sin or unhealthy habits.

Nothing like a delicious greasy fried pork chop. They have no idea what they are missing. But here is a better question. Muslims acknowledge that "Allah" created everything so why would Allah created things that were detestable to him, such as pigs, monkeys, apes, dogs and rats?

I believe that the Jewish people believe pigs are dirty, I am not so sure about Muslims. I think it has to do with something from the Bible about the cloven hoof, but I am not quite sure.

did you know that the pigs digestive system works for only 4 hours but a cows digestive system works for 24? pigs are always in mud which all kinds of disgusting things can grow. a lot of things are known about pigs which aren't that tasty...

erm im muslim we dont say they carry diseases, they are dirty etc, we are just not allowed to eat them, sometimes the fact we are not allowed to eat them gets interperuted wrongly by people and they just assume we absolutley hate them. but honestly they are not the cleanest animals they eat other animal feceas!
