Jehovah's Witnesses do not hesitate to discuss the bible's encouraging message with Jewish persons. They do, however, notice the attitude and body language of a householder that may indicate that the Witnesses' energies and efforts may be better appreciated at another door.
A common misconception is that Jehovah's Witnesses go from door-to-door because they feel it is their duty to get a householder to "change his mind". In fact, Jehovah's Witnesses would go from door-to-door even if there were no hope that anyone would change their religion, or even if no one would listen to them!
That is because Jesus Christ specifically assigned the house-to-house ministry to the Christian congregation, with no regard for specific results.
(Luke 10:1,2) After these things the Lord designated seventy others and sent them forth by twos in advance of him into every city and place to which he himself was going to come. 2 Then he began to say to them: “The harvest, indeed, is great, but the workers are few. Therefore beg the Master of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest.
Jehovah's Witnesses are trained to direct attention to the bible, and move on when their message is unwanted. Since each congregation in the United States tries to call at every home in its territory at least twice each year, there is strong motivation for them to move on where little interest is shown. Also, the Scriptures help the Witnesses to expect little interest from most:
(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching ...and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories. You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.

no, i always tell them that I will not discuss that with them, that it is too personal. and depending on how pushy they are, my tone of voice may change, while basically saying the same thing over and over until I close the door in their face.
Years ago, when I was an adorable looking young blonde, I had a pair come to the door in my solidly middle class neighborhood. I had just awoken from a nap, and was kinda slow on the uptake, when I answered the door. They launched into their spiel. I stood there for a minute listening. When I finally caught on to who they were and what they were selling, the first words out of my mouth, in what must have been a chilling tone, were "I don't care to discuss this with you."
The next week, my husband was out washing the car in the drive, the same pair, along with some adorable kids, are again soliciting our block, the cute kids start heading toward my husband. The elders quickly grab the kids and say "oh no honey, we don't go to That house".
I was inside, the windows were open, I heard the whole thing and it really made me laugh.

The blunders of the russellites (as they as quickly as have been called) purely shop getting uncovered and that's for a reason. Any doctrine that deny's the deity of Christ and downplays who he grew to become into and what he grew to become into despatched for is termed a "doctrine of demons." Any doctrine that takes away or provides to the Holy Scriptures, is cursed. I actual have witnessed people be disfellowshipped (sturdy for them little do they be responsive to) over some sin that a "buddy" tattled to an elder approximately, no counseling or something like that- purely left out as ever they on no account existed- that isn't the affection of Christ in any respect...i think sorry for people who incredibly think of they are interior the daddy's will. calling themselves Christian is a undemanding ploy of cults to slyly get into the doorways of unsuspecting people- i ask your self whether they ever ask your self "why" they are grouped with the different properly primary cult the "mormons." that could tell me something.

Sometimes people are intimedated by them because they are complete strangers but they actually have a scientific backgrounds to their teachings like they observes signs of armageddon and they are only trying to preach to everyone so when they tell everyone about the jehovah's witnesses armageddon might come and a new world of perfection will come again so when they go over to your house at least give them a chance because they are just rying to tell their news so be nice to them and show some interest in it and if it is not right for you then just say im not interested in it. So moral of the story is to be nice to PEOPLE that are made of the same flesh and same speices as you even if their beliefs arent correct to your standards.

Here is the secret, Tell them to put you on there "do not call list". they wont come to your door for aprox. 5 years, then they will check up to see if you have had a change of heart, or moved on.
As for kid A, i sympithise with you, i am disfellowshiped and i have been in your shoes. Over all i say leaving was the best thing i did, but it does take a while for your brain to clear. it been 3 years for me and i still have issues, especially when i go to church, and read an accurate version of the bible. i have had to relearn everything. I DO belive it is a cult, and go ahead crazy guy, argue your point, because you dont have anything else better to do then searh these questions out, (I wonder how the elders would feel if they knew how much time you were spending on the internet)
Any religion which does its best to cut you off from the world EX; you friends and family who are not belivers is bad. Then to cut you of from your children if you dont belive, what kind of crap is that, oh i know "bad association spoils usful habits" get off the cross hunny, somebody needs the wood.
My family has didnt go to my wedding, and they see there grandchildren rarely!

I'm a Jehovah's Witness and I lie to them. Do you have any idea how hard it is to leave the religion? Its like a gang, you can leave, but you'll face some kind of repercussion.
Imagine living in a world where you are told to not make friends with people outside of the religion, not to go to college, not to pursue anything "worldly", but to spend as much time "preaching" to people.
Do you know what happens to you when you DO leave?
Your family will stop talking to you.
All your jehovah's witness friends stop talking to you, and lo and behold you dont have any non-jehovahs witness friends so you are alone. You realize how stupid you've been for not going to college and not living your life but its too late.
There are ALOT of witnesses who are just in because they want to keep their families or they've been in it for so long they have nothing better to do.
Technically i'm still "in" but i dont go to the meetings anymore, just go to the gym or the library like i am right now.
One day i'll be free :-(

No, I just tell them I'm not interested. I just can't lie to them. They are just practicing their beliefs which is one of the reasons America is great. Who knows? They might be right and the rest of us wrong. I'm a Roman Catholic and it wasn't so long ago that we were told that we would be the only ones in heaven. I think that many practicing Buddhists will be rewarded in the afterlife before some Christians. Starr and Wanda W get a thumbs up from me.

I'm only distantly patrilineally Jewish. That excuse won't work on the JW's.
But yeah. It's rather annoying and as long as they think they're being sent by the lord, your personal privacy is in jeopardy.
Get a sign on your door that says "We request that door to door ministers do not come to this house. Any violation of the requests will be considered tresspassing and you will be at the mercy of the owner of the house."

I like all people
What I do not like is people who show up at my door univited.
I called the head office, as it seems they know who is new in town and politely asked them to stop coming to my house.
The ladies and gentlemen who stand in malls and on the corners do not offend me at all.
I just smile and say no thanks and keep walking.
I ocassionally grab a copy and have found some of the reading in the watchtower to be quite interesting as I was raised a Christian and much of what the practice is still along that principal.
Knowledge is power.
If they do not believe in ritualistic repetitive prayer so be it.
If they do not celebrate holidays or birthdays so be it.
This does not threaten my existance in the least.
So at the end of the day lying accomplishes very little.
Either say no thanks or nothing at all.

I take their literature and say thank you and they usually go about their business. Once they came up to my father and to give them a pamphlet, he brushed them off. I took their Watchtower paper and in it was an article about Genetically Modified Organisms....the topic of my thesis, I was working on at that very time. So now I always accept the Watchtower. They don't tend to be too pushy here and try to talk to you for hours, though I have heard of that.
