I've been told many times how my soul will burn in hell. This implies that a soul has the ability to burn. To be able to burn there should be oxygen in Hell. Which implies that a soul needs oxygen, obviously.

I can't fully understand this. I can see how my body needs oxygen, but why would my soul need it?

How does it imply that, exactly? ;o)

(Love is like oxygen, if you get too much you get too high,
Not enough and you're gonna die,
Love gets you high.....)

Hmmm, oxygen is actually very bad for you and just about every non inert material on the planet. In oxygen things oxidise and deteriorate structurally very quickly. This includes your body. However we do need it.
As for burning in hell, well, you sure know some sickos. Doesnt the christian religion ramble on about love and forgiveness? Anyone who can spout such venom is obviously a twisted soul already and should be avoided.
To be a tad pedantic, Anything and everything will burn in oxygen. A rock or a steel girder can be set light to with just a match in a high oxygen environment. Just because your "soul" could burn doesnt mean that the soul needs oxygen, just needs to be in it.

You put too much thought in the topic plus it would imply that the soul is oxygen, not needs oxygen.

Some say the soul is in our Mitochondria, those little guys who live in our cells that have their own unique DNA different from our own. They have an affinity for Oxygen and fuel to make ATP (energy) which might explain your question/hypothosis.

Why would the soul feel the burning sensation of fire in the first place without the nerves the body provides?

I think name-calling Christians using slightly off-color racial references in their user names disprove Christianity rather well... especially when they mistake humor and thinking for "blast-phemy".

Yeah, Mark... you are putting too much thought into things! Stop thinking so much, you're making too much sense.

Many people believe that this is a reference to your soul after the great judgement. When this occurs you will be reunited with your body...a complete soul...body & spirit. The damned with then be sent to hell.

It's a figure of speech. Hell doesn't exist, unless your a masochist, in which case your vision of heaven IS hell.

your soul needs it because it is what makes you tick. It is what you wake up to in the morning and look at, straight in the face. Your soul needs oxygen because it is the element of life, because you need it, because it is part of you and you are part of it.

thats why your soul needs oxygen
