12 year old - light cooking (mac & cheese, eggs and toast, make sandwiches, pack lunch for other kids). Run vaccuum and sweep floors. Supervise younger children and help them complete their chores.

9 year old- laundry, with supervision. Clean toilets and tub. Wash dishes. load/unload dishwasher with supervision. Empty trash. Feed pet if relevant. Walk pet, except late at night, or clean litterbox.

5 year old - pick up toys, clothes, etc. Perhaps dust furniture if there are not many breakables.

All - make beds and keep rooms tidy.

Have the 12 and 9 yr old divide the chores, like doing dishes, sweeping, vacuuming, making beds, and teach them how to use the washing machine and dryer and have the 5 yr old pick up stuff around the house and dust, my 6 yr old thinks it's a real treat to do that! Good luck!

they both have since about age 5 had some chores
at 5 i would say taking laundry to the hamper, trash, vacuum and some dusting would be okay

Everything...They can do everything..Let me tell you why..I did dishes at the age of 12. My 5 yr old boy took the trash out. We are still living and it didn't kill us.The 9 year old could dust and vaccum with the help of the 12 yr old. All thats left is the cooking and washing the clothes. You could cook and have all of them help you with the laundry..It's not about being fair..It's about showing your children that you are hurt and they need to help..Chores are good for children. It makes them responsible. It is one of the best lessons you can teach your children...Good luck
