lets say u are a woman who had an affair after 14 yrs of marriage. you get a divorce but things didn't workout for you and your paramour. But you date and then you find a guy that you realy like and he is a nice guy and his wife may or may not have cheated on him, Would you tell him that you commited adultery in your previous marriage or would you hope he never finds out. even though you live in a small town and people know of your affair

It is better to be truthful in the beginning of a relationship,the truth would come out in a small town anyway.

WOW. That one is difficult and I think it depends on the relationship. It certainly wouldn't be the first thing out of my mouth, but I'm not big on keeping secrets, either. But I have. And when I have it hasn't been to be deceitful, it's been to protect something I cherish that I fear will be ruined or tainted with the truth. If she's kept this from you or lied to you, it was most likely because she was scared. And the fact that the affair led to a divorce is, if it can be, a bonus.

I think it would only be appropriate to share even if it does mean the person you care about might not be able to accept what you did. However, if they can't realize people make mistakes then I think that he or she wasn't the right one for you. I'm old fashioned honesty is the best policy. Even if its scary.
