I don't know for sure, but I can't imagine that braiding your hair would help it grow.

Hair grows as it grows. The only thing I know that helps your hair get longer (not actually grow longer) is to get split ends trimmed about every six to eight weeks. That way your hair doesn't continue to break off.

Ouch! But I'll bet it looks great!

I do not know how it would help your hair to grow any faster braided than not, if they hurt my head i would take them down even if they did make my hair grow, what good is long hair if your head hurts?

I've heard that, but then I've also been told it's an old wives tell. If it hurts that bad - take them out. It's your nutrition and overall health that determines how fast your hair grows.
