I work with several whisky companies, so i guess i know the answer. But what is your perception of a blended malt and how would you rate it?

Thanks.

It's a whiskey made by companies with mediocre products who try to create something drinkable out of them (and usually fail).

A blended scotch whisky may contain a combination of whiskies from over 40 or 50 different malt and grain distilleries. The normal ratio of malt to grain is 60% grain 40% malt. The percentage of malt used will determine the quality and smoothness of taste and character. Each whisky used in the blending process will normally have been matured for about 5 years, however there are a number of higher aged blended scotch whiskies available.
I've tasted single malt whiskeys and actually for my tastes, prefer
the blended i.g., Dewars, J & B, Chivas, etc. I've been in wholesale and retail positions and if you know of any job openings, would appreciate your contacting me via email, as I would like to get back into the biz. cullen2m@verizon.net

Single malt whisky is distilled at a single distillery, and which is 100% from a single type of malted grain, traditionally barley.

A blended whisky is the product of blending different types of whiskies. It is generally the product of mixing one or more single malt whiskies together with other grain whiskies or neutral grain spirits.

Blendeds like scotch are a cheaper way , but a downing of quality. I prefer the single malt scotches but admit I don't prefer the price.
