It's important the cat eats something, anything. Without food or water the cat will be dehydrated which will seriously effect the organs.
If it's been longer than 48 hours since the cat ate or drank anything, it's time to take it to a vet. After an examination the vet will be able to give you more information on the cat's health and perhaps offer some solutions. I wouldn't count the cat down and out just yet, listen to what the vet has to say. But in the meantime, offer the cat anything to eat, it may just decide to eat something.

You should at least call a vet....and soon. Do you know how long it's been since the cat ate or drank anything?
If getting it veterinary care right away isn't an option, try offering something more enticing than cat food (if you haven't already). Try a can of tuna, some cooked hamburger, or scrambled eggs (yup, cats love 'em). See if he'll be enticed by running water (some cats love drinking from running faucets).
But if you can get him to a vet tonight, do so.
Good luck!

Its common for a cat to experience this form of 'depression'. yes its real. I know it sounds hard to believe. If its not eating or drinking you will have to take it to a Vet, put it on IV Fluids, at least until it decides that it is ready to move on. Try wet food. This usually helps some... otherwise try force feeding, get some wet food in a syringe, and squirt it in her mouth... all in all though, take her to the Vet to get her checked out and make sure it isnt something else thats seriously wrong. It may be internal parasites or a disease like FIV or FIP

Before you take the cat to the vet, which I advise you do if this doesn't work, is to move the cat's food bowl to wherever the cat is. I did this to my cat. He stopped eating because he thought the food wasn't fresh. He thought this was fresh, and ate it. This has also worked for three other people. Give the cat lots of attention, so it knows you love it. Good Luck!

How old is the cat?
It's normal for cats to go off feed for awhile, but this sounds abnormal. Or Kitty could simply be depressed about your daughter moving. I'd take it to the vet & get it checked out to make sure.

How long has it been since she's had water? If you (lightly) pull up some skin, does it immediately snap back or stay up and slowly go back down? If it's the latter, she is dehydrated.
You need to get her into the vet as soon as you're able, see if they can get a line in, get her hydrated and do some tests to see if its anything physical.

Get it to a vet ASAP!!!! Cats that do not eat get Fatty Liver Disease and can die easily!!!! Cats that go longer than 3-4 days without adequate nutrition are at risk!!! Once they hae started down the road to this, it can be hard to get them back!!!!!!!!!!!

Give the kitty a piece of clothing that belonged to your daughter, and try to love the kitty as much as possible, then kitty will look at you as another mommie.
