person who doubted or was he just inquisative? When he did not understand something he questioned it, to get clarification. In todays standard, that person will be concidered dumb by most even the ones who did not understand themselves. Was it jealousy that gaved him the bad name of Doubting Thomas?

This topic rings loudly in my ears. I hear people badmouthing Thomas as doubting Jesus, but in essence he was the ONLY one who obeyed Jesus. Previously (Matthew 24:23) Jesus said "At that time if anyone says to you, 'Look, here is the Christ!' or, 'There he is!' do not believe it.

So what happened? They were in the upper room after Jesus death. Some of the disciples said they saw Jesus. And Thomas, obeying Jesus' command, did not believe them. He said he'd believe if he saw the nail prints in his hands and feet. When presented with this proof, he believed. God bless him.

I think that Thomas really didn't believe that Jesus had risen from the dead, he said unless I see the wounds in his hands and His feet and put my hand into the hole in His side I will not believe, and one night, when all the doors were closed and they were all seated together, Jesus appeared before them, and Thomas touched the wounds in His hands and feet, and put his hand into the hole in His side, and said Lord I believe. Because he had seen Jesus then he believed, this piece of scripture is a picture of how many people react to the wonderful truth that Jesus is alive, many say how can I believe? because people can't see Him they find it hard to believe, just like Thomas, but what did Jesus say to Thomas, now you believe because you have seen me, blessed are those who have not seen me and do believe.

He doubted the validity of Jesus' resurrection until he had personally touched the nail marks. That was why he was nicknamed doubting Thomas.

He was given the nickname because after Jesus had arisen from the dead and appeared to the apostles, Thomas would not believe it was he until he touched Jesus' wounds.
