Yesterday evening, a man was walking his dog and a car pulled up and someone got out and put a gun to the dogs head (daschund dog) and shot it in the eye. The dog is ok minus an eye, should I go to this persons house and give them things for their dog, like treats and toys? I feel so sorry for the dog, I have 2 daschunds and couldn't imagine this happening to them. After the person did that, they got back in the car and drove off, police haven't found out who did it.

Anytime we can show compassion to someone hurting it is a good idea. Always ask, "How would I want to be treated if it were me?" Kindness is never forgotten. You are sweet to be so considerate. Someday it will come back to you.

That would be a very kind and loving thing to do for your neighbor. I can't imagine the shock and pain the poor guy must be in after seeing his pet attacked like that.

Some treats and toys for the dog would be great, and maybe you could bring some cookies or a small gift over for the owner, as well. I bet they'd appreciate your thoughtfulness.

You're a terrific person to care about someone else's pain and distress -- we need more like you!

Nothing about this story rings true. If someone walked up to my dog with a gun, there is no way that they would get close enough to shoot him and if they somehow managed to do it, They would be beaten to within an inch of their life. I would take the gun away from them and hold them until the police could be called and come to the scene, while having someone else rush the dog to the vet. It would be easy to get a license number if they did manage to escape. Plus if a dachshund had been shot in the eye, I am sure the bullet would have penetrated the brain and it would have died instantly. I am sorry I just do not believe your story.

If you would feel better about it it would be a nice thing to do, but either way you are not obligated to do, and neither responsible. If you would like to make up some kind of "treat basket" that would be a polite thing to do... a neighborly thing to do! but dont get into the problem where you are doing it every week, and then the neighbor expects you to do something. That might be a problem, and you might get annoying

Oh yes, that is a wonderful idea.
I'm sure this person is feeling very vulnerable now that they were attacked in the open.
Treats for the dog and offers of dog sitting might be in order if the owner was especially shaken as I know I would be.

are you serious?
omg, that is sooo horrible.!
oh, that poor dog! it would be very nice, even if you just gave the dog owner some sympathy, maybe ask them what the dog likes for treats or toys so that the dog will be happier.
also, only if you are up to it and flexible for it, offering to take the dog for walks or watch him some times wold be nice, if you feel comfertable with the owner.

I think that would be nice of you to take a little gift over for the dog. What a crime that something like this could happen in this day and age. I wonder why the owner didn't get the license number? He's lucky they didn't shoot him..............
